—5 minutes earlier—
One of the people escorting him questioned, "Boss, are you going to leave?"
"Yeah, others have already gathered on the site so I'll head there and see if everything is going smoothly or not"
"What are we going to do with those two?" the person asked while nodding.
"Just carry out the plan as it is."
He claimed as he was on his way to the helicopter when he stopped and turned around. "Oh, and what about the youngster?"
"We did send one of those for the kid, so the kid is probably ripped to shreds by now," the person said with a confident expression.
Did it come back? their boss inquired after giving it some thought.
The person hesitated and said in a lower voice "That... no it hasn't yet"
The boss with a pissed tone said "Then find it, it WAS just an experiment but it's still valuable"
They'll soon bring it back, the person said while nodding. The person breathed a sigh of relief as the boss left in the helicopter and said.
"Phew! At last, he left."
The man then signaled for his subordinate with his index finger.
"Surely you heard what the boss had to say. We don't have much time, so send some people to find "That" and get it back as soon as possible."
The humble person bowed his head and walked away. The person who was instructed to organize a search party arrived at one of the structures to organize a group of people to look for that object.
He arrived and approached the friend who was sitting on a steel barrel after seeing him there.
"Oi, did you discover where it is? Boss is agitated about it"
"We discovered it's the last location, in the nearby mountains, but since then, we lost contact with it and haven't discovered any leads regarding it."
The person sighed in disappointment and said, "How did you lose sight of it, if he attacks anyone in a public place we are all dead," placing his hand on his forehead.
"Don't worry, we'll head over there right away to see what happened,"
The sudden buzzing of a radio on the table at the side of the room prevented him from finishing his sentence.
He turned to face his friend and said while reprimanding him after taking a look at the radio on the table. "What is this, I've told you numerous times to carry this with you at all times"
"Sorry sorry, I forgot."
He was a little irritated to see his friend making fun of his work, but he chose not to lose his cool.
"You can't make a mistake like this, I'll just look over it once, but keep in mind that from now on even a small error could result in death."
Before he could respond, the radio stopped ringing after being picked up. He then made a U-turn and scolded his companion once again.
"Oi that's why– huh? where did he go"
He went to the barrel where his friend was sitting and looked about, but he wasn't there.
He notices a drop of blood in front of his feet and looks up. He sees his friend strapped to a steel bar at the ceiling and was about to scream for aid when a hand from behind his neck grabbed him by the lips and stopped him.
"Shush, don't move buddy, I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to ask you a few questions."
Karma tied the guy to the wall with the rope he found in the garbage.
"See, I told you looking for things like this would be useful."
(Whatever, searching through the trash was not to my liking.)
Karma approached the guy and sat on the steel barrel.
"Sure, you ARE a king, so whatever. Let's start with him, shall we? So, tell me where you've been keeping my parents."
"I'm not sure what-"
Karma closes his mouth with his hand and stabs the guy with a sharp metal he found in the garbage before the guy can finish his sentence.
"Yes, your standard line, 'I don't know anything."
Karma grabs the guy by the hair and pulls his face close to his, staring into his eyes.
"I'll ask you one more time, and if you don't tell me, I'll kill you and go after others; I'm sure someone who values their life will tell me, right?"
After learning that he could be killed at any time, the man became terrified.
"No, no, no—wait, you're looking for those two, right? They are stored in the hangar."
" Tell me how many of you are there and where they are."
"There are two people in the hangar looking after those two hostages and the one you just killed. There are five in the basement guarding a hostage and three in the other building with the boss."
(Karma What are our options? Will you let him go?)
Karma knew what needed to be done because the man was no longer useful. Karma stabbed him in the throat, killing him. Karma examined his hands, which were unusually still.
(You appear calm for killing someone.)
"It's all right, I already killed that thing in the forest."
Hearing this, Agastha felt strange (You're comparing those two? This is a human, not a demon.)
Karma sighed and said as he looked down at his blood-splattered hands.
"They were both living beings with souls. The only difference is that what I killed in the forest, is something other than my species. And here, I killed one of my own, most people would be stuck on the same thought, but not me."
Agastha simply pondered his statement and, after a brief pause, spoke up. (Your ability to adapt to any situation is incredible.)
"This is not the time for compliments, but I'll take them anyway."
(So, what now?)
Karma recalled what the stranger had said about the basement.
"Before we do anything, we should find out who the hostage is in the basement; we might be able to find something there."
Karma took the gun from the dead body of the man he killed and went downstairs.
================
People in the basement of the building Karma was in were attempting to contact those above.
One of the participants inquired. "Has there been no response?"
"No. Should I go up there and see what's going on? "enquired another person
The person who appeared to be in charge of the small group requested that another person go check with him.
The two people who went to check on the situation above did not return two minutes later.
"Has anyone responded?"
The person attempting to contact the two people mentioned above shook his head sideways when he received no response.
"Tsk, what is going on up there?"
The loud sound of gunshots came from above, shocking everyone.
!BANG!! BANG!
"Gunshots!! Get ready everyone!"
When the door in front of them opens, there is a brief period of stillness. When one of the people from earlier entered the room soaked in blood and fell in front of them, they all pointed their guns at the door.
"He..lp..."
He extends his hand to his friends for assistance.
"What happened?"
Those three ran to assist their comrade and flipped him over.
"What happened—"
When they flipped his body over, one of them yelled "LOOK OUT!!!" when he spotted the grenades embedded in his friend's body, and then the door abruptly closed.
!KAABO—OMM!!
Even from outside the building, one could hear the explosion's deafening boom coming from the basement.
The explosion was so loud that the guy who was second in command after the boss left could even hear it in the control tower.
"What was that? What caused that commotion?"
"It came from the second building, boss, and no one is picking up the radio either."
"Go and check out what happened."
After the explosion, Karma returned to the basement and opened the basement door.
Agastha remarked when Karma entered the room (That was some cool entry there)
Karma heard a slow voice among the rubble and discovered that one man was still alive.
"UW... HE. L...p...Me"
The man was burned to the second degree and was barely alive.
Agastha pointed to the man and said (That guy is still alive)
Karma approached, shot the barely alive man, and moved on.
"This is the room that those guys were guarding; let's see what's inside."
Karma entered the area that was under guard. The sound of footsteps could be heard because the room was vacant.
"Is there... anyone there?"
From behind a door, Karma heard a voice. A person was chained up and had a towel over their face when he opened the door to the room and looked inside.
"Is anybody... there?"
