A River

She swims on a river.

The river is filled with life.

There are numerous fish and seaweed.

She starts swims the way the current goes.

As she swims she feels her body gets heavier.

And she slows.

She realizes that around her the fish have gotten faster while she gets heavier.

She starts to swim slower and slower.

Eventually reaching the river's base.

She starts to walk on the river bed.

As she walks forwards she sees the marine life lessen.

As she trudges forwards she find the river get dirtier and sees fish corpses.

She sees a box with a door.

She stumbles towards the box.

She opens the room and sees a room.

Her room.

She watched as her room gets flooded with water.

She sees this and realizes,

That this is a fragment of the past,

Or that this is a symbol of the future.

As she peers outside of the box she sees that river has encased her.

She finds the water soak into her clothes and lungs.

As she looks out of the river she sees a hand plunge into the river.

She smiles at this hand as it is the hand of someone she cares about.

She does not remember who,

But she smiles, her last smile.
