Leaving the palace felt like a crime.

Lily was careful as she snuck into the basement—silent as she peeled open the trap door. Nimble as she slipped down inside the dark cavity that began the emergency tunnel. Everything echoed in this dark and dank place, and she couldn’t comprehend how the wolves had so slyly cleaned it up of rubble and debris without being noticed.
