Chapter 11

"You should close your curtains babe."

I gulped.

"Nate, go to bed."

"Mmm you’re no fun." he mumbled.

"Bye Nate." I said into the phone, and then hung up.

I put the phone on the bedside table and closed my eyes, trying to sleep. I couldn’t fall asleep easily, but when I did, I dreamt of Nate.

The next day I woke up to the screams of my grandmother, who said to ‘move my arse downstairs’ because she ‘made a proper English breakfast just for me’.

I looked out the window and was surprised to see that the sun was shining.

I didn’t bother to change my pajamas or brush my teeth before I went downstairs. Katherine and grandpa were at the dining table, not really enjoying their breakfast.

"Sit down Renee." my grandma instructed me, pointing towards the chair with the frying pan. "I made this especially for you, thought you might be missing home."

I rolled my eyes as I dug my fork into a sausage and cut it.
