Chapter 73

I showered, dressed up and managed to pack some last minute stuff in a record time of 27 minutes.

"Take this in case you need something or there’s an emergency. Do you have your passport? Water? Pillow? Stuffed animal?"

"Yeah grandma." I whined taking the fifty-pound bill from her hand. "And thanks, for everything."

I smiled and she looked like she was about to cry.

"GEORGE!!!" she screamed before she hugged me tightly.

Grandpa appeared from the living room. He sadly smiled when he saw me all packed and ready to go.

"You’re leaving." he stated and hugged me too.

He smelled like coffee and cigarettes, as usual. And my grandma smelled like detergent and wine. I would miss those smells.

I teared up a bit, and after grandma suggested I came every summer, I was finally walking out the door.

Nate was waiting, hood over his hair to protect himself from the rain, leaning against the trunk.
