My mouth popped open in realization.

That explains everything. Now that my mind was thinking in that direction, I could see it clearly. Being in a relationship with a drug addict taught me many things, but most of what I had learned predominantly had to do with the effect of drugs on people. The subtle differences between a sober person and a high person, aside the generic and obvious effects like laughing too much.

Though Adonis did not show any obvious signs, I could now easily pin-point the signs he had been showing right in front of me that I didn’t even pick up at first.
