Leilani
My eyes went around, totally caught off guard by Neil’s words. My cheeks were draining cold and blazingly hot at the same time and my fingers around the ruby necklace had gone slack. Wedding? Marriage? Wife?
My mind was spinning in a drawn-out moment, the silence of the darkening surroundings outside the canopy was deafening in my eardrums and heavy on my shoulders. For a long while, I stared wide-eyed at Neil, before my stunned senses slowly started to stir back into normal function.
I should have been expecting this. We were literally engaged to be married sooner or later, so why had I been caught off guard so bad? In fact, ever since Neil proposed to me, I had always stared at my diamond ring, fantasizing about finally getting married to Neil, the man of my dreams and having a perfect husband like him who had always treated me so well, and would continue to do so.
