We promised not to blame each other

[ Annabeth pov ]

Annabeth hid behind the trash cans as she watched Christina and Grover be taken away by huge hands. As tears began to form on the corners of her eyes, Annabeth's minds started racing, countless thoughts and ideas forming inside it, some causing her to despair while others giving her hope.

After the two cyclops entered the building once again, Annabeth's expression grew determined. She refused to let her family die, especially not at the hands of monsters!

Pulling her dagger out, Annabeth took a good look at it, the small inscriptions on the handle custom made by Christina back when it was just the two of them. As her face grew more serious, a plan began to take shape within her mind, she was aware of how greatly disadvantageous the situation was, not only was she alone but she had no idea of how many enemies there were, still she couldn't give up.

Standing up, Annabeth went around the building, taking a good look at the possible entrances and exits. Once she was done with this, she nodded while trying to motivate herself and went inside.

'Everything will be fine, everything will be fine, everything will be fine-' repeated Annabeth to herself on her mind over and over again while going through the dark hallways of the apparently abandoned building.

After a small yet extremely stressful walk, Annabeth arrived in front of a turn, from which she peeked. She immediately went back to hiding as soon as she saw a cyclops on the hallway she needed to cross. Steeling her mind, she proceeded to grab the hammer she was holding tightly while her dagger remained hidden under her shirt.

Launching herself towards the cyclops, who was extremely confused for a moment, she managed to stab it in the foot and force it to stumble backwards, crashing through the doors it was guarding.

*ARGHHH!*

While the cyclops screamed in pain, Annabeth took a fast look into the room and saw her family tied in ropes while being dangled above a pot with fire underneath it.

Annabeth immediately launched her dagger in the direction of the biggest cyclops, stabbing it in the eye and forcing it to the ground almost instantly. Once she did that, Annabeth left the hall and waited for the other monsters to follow her and leave her family alone, for which she didn't have to wait long.

Almost instantly, two cyclops rushed out of the room and started pursuing her. She knew that meant one cyclops was still with the others, so she needed to kill these two and then go save them.

Annabeth hid under a table inside a room and waited for the footsteps to stop. She decided it would be best to just loose these two cyclops and then kill the other one inside the room. Afterwards they could all defeat these two cyclops together without much trouble.

While remaining silent under the table, Annabeth grabbed a pole that she found lying on the floor and held it tightly. Suddenly however, she heard a voice coming from inside the room... a voice she hadn't heard in a long time.

"Hey there Annabeth, why don't you come out?" said the voice of her father.

Annabeth however only widened her eyes while covering her mouth with her free hand.

"Hey Annabeth, it is in bad manners to leave me waiting you know?" continued her father's voice. Once Annabeth was sure it was the only one inside, hearing only one pair of footsteps, she came out from under the table and launched herself in the direction she heard the voice coming form, successfully stabbing the cyclops, who just turned around in time to see a pole come in contact with it's eye.

Annabeth immediately ran outside, leaving a screaming cyclops with a pole through it's eye behind.

Once she was out of the room, she came face to face with what she definitely didn't want to see, a monster with a single eye stood in front of her, a disgusting smile appearing on it's face after noticing the girl.

"Hehehehe, so a little demigod caused all this ruckus huh?" said the monster while raising it's hand. "Well I will just eat you with the others!" it screamed while bringing his fist down, clearly not wanting to cook her but rather splash her corpse into a wall and kill her.

Annabeth jumped to the side, successfully avoiding the fist that went through the wall without too much trouble.

"Get over here little demigod!" screamed the monster as it began to pursue Annabeth across the hallways.

After a little chase, Annabeth began panting. She had to run with her everything in order to not get caught while simultaneously jumping to the sides or rolling through the floor to avoid the fists the monster didn't get tired of launching.

While running, Annabeth noticed something was wrong. Smoke began to fill the hallways and fire could be seen expanding on the walls, consuming the old and abandoned building without any problem.

Annabeth began to think about what could have caused this, and couldn't help but let a small smile out when she came to the conclusion that it must have been either Luke, Thalia or Christina while escaping. In fact they must be on their way here right now to save her like always.

Looking back at the monster that was rushing after her while screaming and roaring angrily, she felt the smile grow bigger. 'Just wait you ugly monster! You won't be so scary when they make a fool out of you!' she thought while turning her head back to the front and kept running.

Eventually, a dagger made it's way right into the cyclops eye, forcing it to it's knees while its body started to slowly wither away into ashes.

"Annabeth!" came a scream from the other side of the hallway, making Annabeth look in its direction.

"Thalia!" she screamed back while rushing to her sister.

Thalia indicated Grover to go and get the dagger back from the monster's corpse while hugging Annabeth.

"The building is on fire, probably you know that since you must have caused it, but we need to leave." said Annabeth while separating herself from Thalia.

For an instant the expression on Thalia was confused, however a second later in returned to normal. "We can't get out of here yet." replied Thalia, much to Annabeth confusion. "Luke is looking for Christina so we need to go back and help."

"Looking for Christina?" asked Annabeth, still confused. "Didn't you escape all together?"

Thalia looked at Annabeth for a moment before a kind expression appeared on her face. "We just separated to search for you. So Luke must be now looking for Christina and we need to see that they get out safely as well." replied Thalia.

"I see! That is indeed the best course of action... and what about the remaining cyclops?" asked Annabeth.

"Well... it kind of left, but don't worry, Luke will take care of it without any problem." said Thalia.

Annabeth in her excitement for being back together didn't notice the plot holes in the story and simply smiled happily.

Author note:

I will upload three chapters tomorrow, personally I think they are better enjoyed if they are read together so yeah. They are the last three chapters of this 'first volume' so it would be kind of awkward to split them.

I guess I'm supposed to give a warning or something. I tried to make the descriptions and the events as 'realistic' as possible in this following chapters so expect scenes that may be hard to read (depending on how hard you take descriptions of pain and all that). Anyway, from here on I felt my soul die a little, hopefully yours will too!

Well, good luck my dear readers.
