Chapter Forty-Seven

Talia's POV:

He was staring at me, looking like he was considering what he'd say next. "What?" I whispered, feeling anxiety spread through me. The most important thing was that he had promised me freedom tomorrow. I just had to get through the night. By tomorrow, I would figure out how to be on my merry way, away from him and his madness.

"I want you to enjoy this moment as much as possible. Clear your mind and just focus on tonight," he cooled me, sounding calmer.

It baffled me how he was able to go from angry and violent to romantic and calculated. It was like a thinking time bomb had been put off. Yet, we were still counting our time because I didn't trust the silence.
