Chapter Fifty-One

Talia's POV:

I stood, dumbfounded, for a moment, then I walked over to the bar and poured a bit of whiskey into a glass, drinking it all at once. It burned so harshly as if I had equally wronged it.

I got ready for bed, washing the remnants of my ruined make-up off and putting on a silk nightgown before turning in for the night. All night long, I couldn't sleep. I kept tossing and turning, trying to get my mind off Jake, Stella and my grandmother. It was difficult to forgive myself for ruining the one opportunity of getting to see them and probably breaking free. I wished I had to continue myself. Wished I was more patient.
