Talia's POV:

To my huge relief, he looked surprised. "Hate you? No, of course, I don't hate you, my dear."

"Then why?" I asked again, determined to get some answers. "Why did you kidnap me and bring me here?"

He looked at me, his eyes impossibly blue against his tanned skin. "Because I wanted you, Talia. I already told you that. And because I'm not a very nice man. But you already figured that out, didn't you?"

I swallowed and looked down at the sand. He was not even the least bit ashamed of his actions. Nicholas knew that what he was doing was wrong, and he simply didn't care. "Do you have mental issues?" I didn't know what prompted me to ask this. I didn't want to make him angry, but I couldn't help wanting to understand. Holding my breath, I looked up at him again.
