XIII. The Bitter Taste of Blood

I opened my bag and picked up a small safety knife, placing it in my pocket just in case. I knocked on the door twice and waited impatiently. I hadn’t figured out what I was going to say, but I knew it would come to me once she was in front of me. The locks clicked and the door swung open.

“You.” She said confused and waited for me to explain why I was there again.

“Hi. Clearly you remember me.” I smiled, my cheeks turning scarlet red.

“I told you I had no more information to share.” She replied, beginning to shut the door.

“I’m here for something else! Someone else actually...” I said quickly and she opened the door again. She looked around as if looking for Hayden and then opened the door wider, allowing me to come in.

“I’m sure you know that Max was brought to the dungeons a couple of days ago. He said you’re his friend.” I began and she stood a couple feet away from me, her expression immediately changing.

“You’re Evelyn. Max’s sister?” She asked shocked.
