ACCUSATION

*Audra's point of view – Past*

Once we were all inside we locked the door. My mom stayed close to the window, keeping an eye out. She put the rifle down but still near reach, in case.

For the first time, she turned her attention to us.

"I'm so sorry I didn't come out before. I heard shouting and laughing and I saw you playing outside, so the first loud voices I heard didn't worry me. After a while I realised that there was one voice I did not recognize and when I looked out he was already there. I called the police and got out as fast as I could, I just knew I couldn't get out there without calling the police first or we might regret it." She let out a frustrated sight as she glanced at the window. "If only I had noticed it sooner you wouldn't be hurt now." She came close to us, kneeling on the ground in front of us and pulling both onto a hug. "I'm so, so sorry. It won't happen again. I won't let him hurt you."
