WHERE THERE WAS FIRE, ASHES REMAIN…

I didn't move after his phrase and he didn't add anything else. Not long after, I heard his breathing turning deeper and his chest moving up and down regularly below my head. It was like the rocking of a boat lulling me to sleep, and soon, I was asleep too.

I had weird dreams, with my mom chasing me around the garden like she did when I was little and with Chris sitting on the bench outside making out. More like dreams, they seemed like memories. But at the same time, they had that hazy feeling and weird transitions dreams have, mixing with each other and occasionally getting odd.

My body felt hot as if I was running a fever, and for a moment there, I dreamed of Caesar coming to take Chris away, right when we were lying together like now.
