UNDER THE STARS

Three sharp knocks on the door brought me out of my bubble while I was drawing with my pencil grabbed tight and my face way too close to the paper.

My mom made her way through the room, dressed to go out.

"Honey, if you keep up those postures, you're gonna have a bad back by the time you're twenty."

"Sorry mom, I know, but I was way too concentrated, I didn't notice." I smiled sheepishly. "You look nice, are you going somewhere?"

"I told you when we got home before." I gave her an 'I don't know what you're talking about face'. "Christina wasn't able to come to lunch, remember?"

"Oh, yeah, I remember that, but nothing about going out." I said, trying to recollect.

"Well, I told you I would give her a call, she said she might be available in the evening. She is so we're going to her house, they're not all coming, just Elsa and me. Quiet night in."

"Wine, some appetizers, fun adult conversation" I dramatized every word when I spoke.
