SHELTER

A small twitch woke me up from my sleep, as I blinked, the soft morning light from the corridor marked Chris' silhouette in the dark.

His body moved up and down slowly with his breath, deep asleep, a soft smile crept on my face as I recounted the events of last night. Not a worry clouded my mind as I kept observing him while he slept. I don't know how long I stayed like that, just seeing the soft movement of his silhouette.

But, after a few minutes of ignorant bliss, I also remembered why we were here in the first place. While it didn't take away from the events of last night and the happiness they produced for me to be so close to Chris again, I didn't dare to move not wanting to wake him up, he was so peaceful.

I didn't have the heart to bring him back to this reality, not to let him rest. He deserved to, for who knows what news Anne will have.
