SECRETS & CONFRONTATIONS

*(Audra's POV, past)*

The warm scent of coffee and freshly made toast greeted me as I wandered into the kitchen, still in my pyjamas. It was one of those lazy Saturday mornings where the house felt cozy and safe—a rare feeling lately, considering how intense school had been with finals.

Mom was at the counter, buttering toast while humming a soft tune. She didn't notice me at first, her expression light and content. I leaned against the doorway, smiling. It was nice seeing her like this—so relaxed, so... happy.

"Morning," I greeted as I stepped inside. Her head snapped up, and she smiled warmly.

"Morning, sweetheart. I made extra toast if you're hungry."

I grabbed a slice and sat down at the kitchen table, watching her closely. "You're in a good mood."

"Am I not allowed to be?" she teased, her eyes twinkling in a way that made her look years younger.
