Strange Venture

The words Doctor Fue spoke out, echoed through her mind, as she tried to comprehend if they were spoken with any degree of truth.

However, no matter how one viewed the situation, Liu Hana seemed sure of the words she spewed. There could be no embarrassment when one deals with someone most people would perceive inferior to them.

In the depth of her subconscious, Shu felt envious of Liu Hana for having the privilege to look down on another's status. A sigh of frustration escaped her, shrugging off the bitterness of her thoughts.

Her focus led her to the ponds that decorated the grounds of the estate, vibrant colors surfacing over the clear water. Moving closer to find out what sort of things were placed in the waters, Shu was met with chunky sort's of glob.

Presuming that they were fish from the manner they acted, Shu was fascinated.

She wondered what was the purpose they served, were they merely decorative pieces for ones enjoyment? Or were they brought for slaughter, kept here to harvest.

If they were the former, then she felt that was a real waste for one of these could keep a slave of the field well fed for quite a few days if rationed properly. However, if it was the latter she felt the need to applaud General Xia's for taking advantage of every aspect of the creatures.

Choosing not to linger for fear of being questioned, she traveled along a path that led to a variety of plants, that seemed to sumerge one whole. Analyzing the outer area of the path, a pair of eyes glowed back at her through the darkness of the shrubs.

Startled at the unexpected stare, Shu grimaced moving closer to the eyes that stared at her in alarm. However, before she could question the person that hid away, the sound of footsteps pounding behind her disrupted her thoughts.

Knowing right away that those footsteps belonged to a guard coming to look for the person in the shrubs, Shu quickly made up her mind to climb in next to the person. Not wanting to be questioned by a guard for her late night ventures.

Looking through the small gaps of the bushes, feet were noted to be standing where Shu had been just moments ago. The guard stood there for a while as a mutter drifting from his lips.

"...Must've been an animal." he said walking back towards his station.

Inwardly letting out a sigh, Shu turned to the other habitant of the hidden area, as familiar hazel eyes gazed back at her.

Though, the darkness prevented her from having a clear view of the boys features, Shu remembered those eyes from the morning.

Opening her lips to confirm his identity, she spoke out, only to be surprised by his interruption.

"Why did you hide with me?!" he asked appearing to hold a sneer on his expression.

Pausing from the unexpected reaction, she thought over her answer before replying.

"I did not want to be questioned by my presence in the estate. I'm sorry if I've offended you by intruding."

His eyes held annoyance but, he spoke calmly. "You did not offend me however, you did put me at risk of being discovered if you had been any slower. For that I'm irked."

Realizing her mistake, she clasped his large hands and apologized.
