Altan felt grateful towards her, she could've gotten it easy by ratting him out to the guards. She had no curfew, her alibi could have been created fairly easy, instead she chose to stick by him.
The guards were much closer now, yet the thicket provided enough coverage for them to remain unseen amongst the dark. They kept yelling anger laced in their tones.
"It's no use, he must've left the Xia's property ages ago!" One guard said, already seeming to appear to give up.
"Shut up! If we can't find the boy, General Xia will have our heads! I fancy mine to remain atop my shoulders rather than rolling on the floor, don't you?! Enough Jabber Find Him!!!" another yelled, his face an unnatural shade to be distinguished from the dark.
"Why do we need him? There's a whole bunch of them to spare, nicely guarded at the barracks." the first spoken guard uttered.
"Didn't you have this sort of conversation with Director Cou earlier today?" the guard that yelled previously asked with a hint of amusement making its way into the angry tone.
It was him. The man that had beaten Liu Hana. It was inevitable running into him, however out of all times to do so, it had to be now. That man could not control his anger when something irked him, and with the rile the other man would bring when bringing up the incident. Altan would not be safe.
Returning her focus back to the two men, in hopes that they would leave the area, there was no chance that could happen.
"Don't you dare mention that incident Zhang." the man said, moving close to shove a hand against Zhang in a shoving motion.
"What a woman reaction. Remember Jun, I'm your superior. No matter how you wish it differently." Zhang stated, in a deep raspy voice that turned towards a whisper towards the end.
"Doubt you will be, when the Master finds out that you were one of the guards that was supposed to guard the area of the boys, but met with women at the local pub instead."
"Are you threatening me, Jun? You've got guts, considering the repercussions that would come out if Old Xia ever found the drugs you smuggled to Concubine Xia that jeopardized the Head Mistress's pregnancy." Zhang stated smirking at the information that leaked its way out into the open.
"H-How did you catch wind of that?!" Jun questioned, his voice trembling in a manner far worst that Director Cou's reprimandation.
Zhang whistled a low triumph blow that echoed a fair distance. "Got myself quite close with one her lady n wantings. She's a talker, wouldn't shut up 'bout morals, but listened patiently as a price for her information. So..wanna talk 'bout it? Concubine Xia must be paying you something worth your while to risk it all."
"If the form of payment your meaning, involves a man that handles an axe with ease, the yes she is paying lovely." Jun uttered sarcastically.
Zhang winced cuffing his thick hand over his neck, feeling a sort of empathy for his commrad. "How'd you wind up in her clutches, your usually stationed in the field?"
"Sought her out, when General Xia went on business. Thought she'd get lonely with him away for so long." Jun stated looking anywhere but at Zhang.
"Have you gone daft?! You practically begged to become her pawn." Zhang yelled, knocking his fist into his head.
"I know that now hurry up man, there's still a boy who needs a beating."
They resumed their search, as if nothing ever happened astounding both children at their sudden switch.
