Zain stood there at the door, lost by the stupendous beauty of the chamber. No one was supposed to go inside the chamber without the content of the priest, but Zain wasn't even aware that she had stepped inside. There was a shiny round chandelier on the ceiling, it was made of gold, and rounded with diamonds, which glittered all around the walls. The floor was covered in marble. Zain went further, as she admired the furniture of gold, and the sculpted images engraved on the wall. There was a tall wardrobe at the corner of the room, Zain went further and opened the large wardrobe, where priestly wears were hung, everything was well arranged. There were garments of purple, white, blue, and even gold, all embroidered with grand designs. There was a particular garment hung up there, that got her attention, it was the only odd one. She took it out, to see it in full. She hadn't seen priests wear such garments before. As she was looking at the odd clothing, she began to hear distant voices and footsteps coming from outside. She quickly hid inside the wardrobe. She didn't want the priest to see her inside the inner chamber. Her heart was throbbing fast, she had forgotten to shut the door when she came in. The people she heard were already inside the chamber. She could hear the voice of the priest. Someone else was with him, but she couldn't make out of his voice. All she could do now was listen.
"Please do something quick, I can't do this anymore, I can't do this to my family, my son," this was what she heard from the other man there. It all sounded strange to her, she wondered what they were talking about.
"I'm sorry, but there's nothing else I can do now, it's left for the master to decide," said the priest.
The reply from the priest terrified Zain, what master, she thought. At a point, the conversation stopped. She heard footsteps approaching the wardrobe. Right now, her heart was pounding so fast, threatening to pop out of her chest. She forgot to keep back the garment she brought out. She leaned close to the end of the wardrobe, unshaking. She was behind the right door. The door by the left side opened, and she saw someone's hands hanging back the garment, then closing the door of the wardrobe. She heaved a sigh of relief.
O'Neil still wasn't back, today marked the tenth day since his departure. Isabel was so worried, first, it was her daughter, and now her husband, she didn't want to lose either of them. She had warned him beforehand about the dangers of the east, but he didn't listen to her. She didn't even have the appetite to eat. She prayed all day long for the safety of her family. At midday, she managed to prepare a meal for herself, to ease her hunger, for she had fasted for so long. As she was coming from the kitchen with food in hand, she heard a sound from outside, which quickened the surge of anticipation in her. She dropped the plate, and listened attentively, to be sure of what she heard, then she heard it again, and was certainly sure. It was the sound of a camel, this meant one thing to her.
"My prayers are answered," she muttered, "He's back!" she exclaimed, racing towards the door.
She swung the door open, not minding if she would break it. She ran down in anticipation, to where the tired animal knelt. She saw hanging on its back, the tent, and a water can.
"O'Neil... O'Neil...!" she called out, but there was no response.
"Where did he go?" she muttered.
She looked around for him, but he was nowhere around. The animal came alone, without him. Many thoughts rushed through her mind now, she couldn't think straight at this point. She rushed back inside, and came out again after a short while, wearing a white woolly coat, and thick gloves. She mounted on the Carmel and headed eastwards.
Far beyond the mountains, a sturdy-built man ran, farther and farther, towards a large cave. He was running so fast like he was chasing the wind. He was a messenger, a messenger to the supreme Alpha, the leader of the self-proclaimed apex predators. He was coming with a piece of very important news. As he ran, he took a long sprint through the air, transfiguring in mid-air, into a four-footed beast. Now he had transferred into wolf form, he was faster. He dashed past the entrance of the den, to the chamber of the supreme alpha; Savitar. He transformed back to his human form, and fell on his knees before the Alpha, panting heavily from the long run.
"Rise, and tell me what news it is that you have brought," said the Alpha.
"Forgive me my alpha, for I have brought you terrible news," said the messenger, facing the ground.
"Speak young one, for I am Savitar the conqueror, never afraid am I to hear any terrible news," said the Alpha.
"At this very moment, a troop of about a hundred, marches towards the territory, they're all armed with double-edged swords," said the messenger.
"These Sirkarians have bitten the tail of the wolf, again and again, they need to be punished," said the Alpha.
"Ready the packs, and go clear up the troops. This isn't our time to strike," he added.
"Your wish is my command, my Alpha, I'll go prepare a pack now," said the messenger, then he left the chamber.
Moments later, a girl came into the chamber. She had blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a white gown, which covered her bare foot. She looked worried.
"Father, why won't you just believe me," she said to Savitar, "Simon is alive, they didn't kill him," she pleaded.
"Octavia, what then do you want me to do?" asked Savitar.
"You sent out a pack to devour them, please call them back, and tell them not to do that, we can't just kill them," she said.
"But there coming against us," said Savitar.
"Maybe that's because they're afraid of us. We should show them mercy, so that they can return the favor, by accepting us to stay in their land," she said.
"Octavia you're still a minor to interfere with these kinds of things. You should understand that we're not safe here and that we have to be violent enough, to take the land," said Savitar, curtly.
"Father please..." pleaded Octavia, but she was interrupted by the harsh roar of her father.
"Silence child!" yelled Savitar, "Why do you speak nonsense?! I'm a man of my word, I will not show mercy at war!"
"Bu... but you promised, you promised mother that there would be peace and that your subjects wouldn't have to learn war any more," she said.
"That was the past, child, true werewolves are meant to exhibit their aggressive nature," said Savitar to his daughter, "Now leave here at once, go join the other children."
Octavia scuffs in annoyance.
"I'm not a child!" yelled Octavia angrily, as she ran out of the chamber.
The army, led by Raja, compromised of a hundred men, and a majority of them weren't De voe's followers, they were just common indigenes, who were forced beyond their will to march into a fierce battle, against the werewolves. They were pressing fast, ahead to face the enemy. Some marched on foot, while others were mounted upon horses. They had already gone way beyond the mountains when they met charging towards them, a pack of fierce-looking werewolves. There were too many in number, and they had massive sizes.
"They're too many of them! Just like the dust of the earth!" said one of the soldiers, in fear.
Fear gripped all of them, but they kept on moving forward.
"Keep on going, no retreat, no surrender, no fear!" roared Raja.
Soon, they collided with the apex predators, and the battle began. Arrows and spears flew at every corner through the air, the soldiers flung their swords from the back of the horses, at their enemies, who wouldn't back down either. To the werewolves, this was a slaughter, but to the Sirkarians, it was a fight of their lives. The wolves didn't seem to be moved by the offense of the Sirkarians, they were so powerful. They sprang high against the soldiers on horses, driving them to the ground, and fastening their sharp teeth to their throats. The battle soon became a one-sided massacre, as screams and wailings of the victimized soldiers, filled the place. The wolves had taken full control over them and overpowered them. Raja kept on fighting, he was more or less the only one of his people, that was still in the fight. Most of them were littered helplessly on the floor, with a missing body part.
Right now Raja found out that there was no one else left with him, all his men were down, and all were dead. The leader of the pack came to him, where he stood holding up his axe tightly. The wolf transformed back into a human and came towards him. Raja swung his axe at him, but he waged it with his arm, knocking it out of Raja's hand.
"There's nothing else you can do, they're all dead," he said to Raja.
"I'm sparing your life so that you can deliver a message. Go back home, and tell your leader that we're coming."
