Chapter 63

  Present Day

Cerilius was waiting in their rooms when they returned and raised his eyebrows as they entered dishevelled from their swim but dressed in court finery. Sylvin pulled his hair back into a ponytail and gestured with his head for the mage to leave with him before turning to Yelena and brushing his lips over hers. “I will return for the evening meal,” he told her.

She wanted, very much, to ask where he was going, but knew that if he did not volunteer the information, he was unlikely to share it with her. She sighed as he closed the door behind the mage.

“My Lady,” Eustice came to the bedroom door, her expression wary.

“What is it Eustice?” Yelena was surprised by her maid’s discomfort.

“Something came for you,” Eustice stepped back into the room, and Yelena crossed to enter. Eustice went to the anteroom and returned a moment later carrying a garment over her arm. She draped it across the bed.
