CHAPTER 7

The talk with my grandmother makes me forget that I had a party to attend to.I hear my mom calling me from downstairs.

Shirley is here.

I make my way to the foyer and see my mom talking to her. "Eve you didn't tell me you made new friends at the school and you even got invited for a party"

I kiss her cheek "mom it's not a big deal but this is my friend Shirley; Shirley, my mom" I introduce them to each other.

"Shirley, are you from this neighborhood?"

Shirley smiles at her "no Mrs. Leblanc I am from greenwood"

"please, call me Martha, Leblanc is my father's name"

"Okay we have to go get ready now mom " I tell her as I pull Shirley away

"You girls take care alright? And Eve your curfew still applies here too"

"I know that mom" I tell her as we go upstairs

"You have a curfew?" Shirley laughs

"yes, don't everyone our age have a curfew"

"Dude, no" she looks at me as if i just told her Santa is real.

I shake my head at her. "Everything is backward in this town. What else do I want to know least I embarrass myself?"

"You will catch up real quick no need for me to spoil all the fun for you now yeah?" she laughs at the face I make

"Okay Shirley enough stalling I know you know I'm just waiting for you to tell me how you got an invite in this 'elite' party" I air quote elite

"You don't have to air quote it Eve it's kind of true. And I am not sure you really want me to tell you this. Are you good in keeping secrets?"

Is she joking? "what could possibly be the big deal in all of this?" Shirley can be dramatic for the short period of time I have known her

"I am kind of seeing Doug" I am confused "who is Doug?" she looks at me "Doug who has a twin?"

"Oh. Wait. I thought you hated the bunch. Where's is your loyalty Shirley?" I laugh as I question her. She is clearly uncomfortable at this

"It's complicated."

"Look, as long as you are having a good time and you are happy I'm not here to judge. You are happy right? Because from the look on your face I don't see it"

She dramatically flops on my bed "Eve, its seriously complicated; but I have my happy moments"

I head towards my closet" that's good enough for now let's find you something that will make Doug so angry and hot at the same time" that seemed to lift her moods

"I love that idea."

We arrive at the part late. Perfect. I love the idea of people looking at me. I am not shy or naïve or insecure in anyway. I might be the new girl in town but I am not about to shy away from the spotlight.

I own the spotlight. Tonight, I get to interact with this bunch and really get a read on them on personal level. I have someone on my mind too. Eden. E was on my mind when I wore this dress. I want to say I didn't do it for him; but I did. He doesn't get to ignore me an act like we didn't have a moment the other day. He will notice me, that is for sure. But I am not about to fall on his feet. He is about to work for it. Let the games begin.

I am wearing small red dress that hugs my body all in the right places. Front lace showing just a bit of what's inside and open back that accentuates my waist. I have worn my hair up to complement the look the dress is giving and additional of red lipstick. I have worn only mascara for my eye makeup so as not to overdo anything and with a final touch of slim nude heels. It's perfect.

Shirley is the epic definition of hot. Her long curly hair is all in its glory. She is wearing a black number that hugs her body like a second skin and stops at the start of her knees. Its log sleeved and showing her curvy six figure body. She completes the look with strappy heels. Doug had no chance from the very beginning.

As we pull up to the driveway our car gets packed by a valet. They have a valet. The house is obnoxiously huge it makes me wonder why anyone would want all that and if they ever got to use even some of the rooms.

"Wow, I didn't realize it's legal to own all this" I joke as we head our way to the main entrance

"That's the theme around this town" Shirley smirks

There aren't a lot of people in the party like you would expect a normal high school party to be like. I start to ask Shirley if we should go find the drinks first when I see him laughing with three other dudes. He is wearing all black, even from a distance you can see the elegance and expensive taste. Like obsidian. He has this aura around him that even if the other dudes are clearly in their own element, they respond to him, naturally. Just then, a striking beautiful fair haired girl slides up to him and kisses him on the cheek. Nothing prepares me for the flash of anger that hits me. What the hell?

"Are you okay? You look tense" I had forgotten I was with Shirley. That's the thing about Eden. He makes the world fall away even if it's just for a second.

I snap out of it quickly.

"I am peachy" That was unexpected, and talk about unwelcome. I need a drink.

We make our way towards the bar counter; yes they have a wet bar counter. Everything in this place screams money I'm not even surprised anymore. A tiger could walk right out a door and I would just shrug at this point. I see Justus approaching us

"You came." Justus is a big guy and very handsome. I find myself flush a bit

"I came."

"You look like an angel" he takes my hand and kisses my fingers. Did I say Justus is corny too?

"Hello Shirley. Nice of you to finally come to one of my parties" Shirley seems annoyed by him

"Well thank you for your hospitality Justus" Justus notices the attitude and smiles

"Doug is in my bedroom, all gloomy. He would be happy to know you came" Shirley gives him a pissed off look and heads to find Doug, I assume.

"Bad blood?" I ask Justus as I sip my drink. He comes closer to me and makes himself a drink too

"No. I wouldn't know"

"So that's how you normally converse with people"

"I don't care about the people. I want to know the woman I am standing with right now."

I smile at that. It's going to be a fun night.
