Chapter 77: I Need Your Help

Eleonore’s POV

Rhett and Hayden took me home after that. The car was mostly quiet during the entire ride, mostly due to the sudden tiredness that enveloped me. The day had been short and yet long at the same time. There wasn’t a single moment where I wasn’t thinking about Bastian.

I tried to find the place where his body was buried before we left, but Annie found us some time later and told me it was best that I go home instead. My aunty had already left shortly after the entire ordeal in Ronan’s office, which only seemed, according to Annie, to enrage the man even more.

I didn’t have the energy to face him again or even want to see him after what he had said to me, so I went home without seeing the grave of my brother.

Rhett walked me up to the front door while Hayden waited in the car. I told him goodbye, but the moment his eyes met mine, I was reminded of the moment in the forest and immediately looked away.
