Chapter 82: Child From Hell

Rhett’s POV

“How is she?” Alethea asked as she walked into the den of our pack house, her long strides helping her make quick work of the distance between the door and where Hayden and I sat on the couches near the fireplace.

“She’s out with your underling,” Hayden said tightly. I couldn’t mind him for his tone towards the situation, it was beginning to get to me too.

“I do believe that is the same excuse you gave me the last time I came to see my niece. Have you two done nothing but lounge while she grieves for that b*stard of a Bastian?”

Hayden scoffed at the way she referred to Bastian, each one of her referrals beginning to become more and more insulting and… I couldn’t lie and say I didn’t enjoy it. “You don’t seem particularly saddened at their cut ties yourself.”

“Do try to be more empathetic to your niece’s condition, she did lose a brother… twice,” he continued as he reclined himself on the couch as he stared at her.
