Chapter 130: Echoes of the Past

Eleonore’s POV

The first thing I noticed when Bastian had transported the two of us somewhere else was the darkness. It wasn’t like the darkness from the Void, or a lack of light—the room he had brought us to was lit up quite well. It was the feeling, more than anything. It felt like darkness if that even made sense.

“Make yourself at home,” he said as he gestured around the place. “I haven’t been here for a while since I’ve been locked up, so you’ll have to excuse the dust bunnies.”

I tried not to let him see the strange look I was giving him before nodding and walking around. It felt strange that he was giving me free reign of the place, but the fact that I had chosen him over the twins must have given him some false sense of security, at least for now, that I wouldn’t try to run away.

He was right though, to an extent.
