Chapter 173: Remember Me

Eleonore’s POV

Viktor left me alone after some time talking, we had been silent for the last few minutes once his voice quietened and just stared out into the night. It had grown dark and cold, but despite the dreary weather that approached, neither of us wanted to leave yet. Viktor was the one who left first, having duties to finish around the territory for Rhett and Hayden.

I nodded at him and waved goodbye, while thanking him before he left. I remember there was a curious look in his eyes as he stared at me for a moment, the same look I had noticed him having earlier. But just like the first time he didn’t say anything to acknowledge his thoughts, and instead nodded and said his goodbyes as well as he left.

I stayed sat there for some time more, listening to the sounds of the wind and the crickets that began to chirp. That was, until I heard crying from somewhere around the garden. It sounded like a child’s crying, and almost immediately my senses were on high alert.
