Chapter 241: The Demon Priestess

Eleonore’s POV

For a while, all Michael and I could do was just stand there and look at the woman in front of us. She was staring back at us as though we had broken her favorite tea set which, as I looked at the mess beneath the rubble, could very well have been the case.

I took a step towards her before Michael did, something glinting in the space between us that caught my eye. It was like a tendril of a thing, a fracture of light that expanded between her body and mine. It was something I had never seen before and yet felt wholly familiar with. What was this?

“Are you… the priestess?” Michael asked as he walked closer to my side, moving further ahead of me as he acknowledged the woman. She did nothing for a time but put the bread she was holding down onto the small table in front of her, one of the few pieces of furniture within the vicinity that had survived the crash, before placing her hands on her hips.
