Volume 1.16 Grace Time (3)

The Imperial Ballroom. As we went there, a knight who was almost out of breath came running towards our direction.

"You're highness! Milady!"

"Sir Harold!" Veronica called out as soon as he stopped in front of us.

"I'm sorry for the delay when I said that I'll come back."

"It's alright. My sister is already here by my side."

Harold. Oh so he is the pushover knight and will become the loyal servant of the heroine. Messy hair with highlights between purple and black. Left eye that was covered with black eye patch. And deep clear purple eyes. He was also indeed a huge muscular man with 6'5 of height.

"Thank you for protecting my elder sister."

"It's my honor to serve her highness Veronica. And she also helped us aiding the wounded people. Without her the casualty might not be lowered."

"I see…" I turned to look at Veronica whose gaze was definitely avoiding me.

"We don't have much time now. Let's go to the Ballroom now." Harold said. "Let me escort you there."

We reached the entrance of the ballroom. However there seemed to be a commotion happening.

"We will not enter that cursed place. What if the next thing that happened is we get trapped there in one place with murderers! I will not let my family enter the place."

"But the magic box clearly told everyone that those who didn't enter on time will die. Please enter now, my grace."

There was a family of five. An old man with his wife. Together with his two daughters who seemed to be in their teens. And one boy who seemed around the age of 8 or 9. All their faces held fear while their patriarch was seething with rage. It seemed their Butler and knight were forcing them to go inside the ballroom. Their faces were full of worry.

"I'm a devout believer of the Church of Light. The God of light will not do anything bad to us against those devils. I'm more concerned to be in a room full of murderers!"

I looked at the Grace Time. There were only five minutes left.

"Your highnesses, please enter the ballroom now. I will help settle this dispute." Harold bowed down then went to fix the commotions.

I narrowed my eyes. "Everyone, let's enter now. Sir Harold would be able to handle them." I grabbed Veronica's hand and Melissa.

As we walked past the family quarelling my gaze caught with the little boy and his elder sister holding each other. Their eyes held fear, but I immediately averted my gaze away from them.

It's foolishness. Even if you believe in your god, he will not save you against the rulers of this cruel game.

The Church of Light was the dominant religion of this world. However, no matter how many times I finished the game, he never answered anyone's prayer and faith here. If not for the healer priest, I won't even notice that such religion and God existed here.

{The God of Light in this world is real, Yvette.}

Hah. It seemed I am getting used to the voice that was sounding inside my head from time to time. I didn't get startled as much as before.

However, if they didn't enter on time. They would indeed be killed and in a gruesome way at that.

"Can't we do something to help them, Yvette?" Veronica whispered beside me.

"Their family head seems to have a firm decision to not enter this place. We can't do anything to them."

"But they might die?"

"Their head decided what to do. And the others followed him. They decided for themselves now. Whether they die or not, it is a decision they made for themselves already."

"I see…" Veronica looked forward while Melissa clung to her closely.

And besides, someone else would force them to enter. The only thing we could do was to become a bystander.

I looked around, to spot the main characters. The imperial family was on the front right corner of the room with imperial guards guarding them. The dead bodies were lined on the other side with table cloths covering them. However, visible blood stains could still be seen on the walls and tables. They sure were able to organize this place fast.

And there she is, the main heroine of this game. Estella Arthur. She was helping other survivors. Her long dress remained as clean as ever. It seemed she was protected well during the entire first event together with the imperial family.

I looked at my tattered dress. Aren't I truly pitiful now. But where is he?

The second prince. I was confident to enter here because of the Grace Time warning. However I still need to be cautious with him of all people. Or I might have found my head flying without my notice.

As I turned in front, that was when I noticed the person I was looking for walking towards my direction.

Eek. Ah no. Estella was there. He couldn't possibly come here at such a time.

"Yvette, is there a problem?" Her eyes also widened in fear at the man who was walking towards us.

Yeah. Our walking handsome red flag is heading in our direction.

Before I could answer, he was already there in front of me.

"You…" His handsome face held a scowl.

"Greetings to the Second Imperial Prince, Prince Ephraim Arthur." I bowed down

Wow. I couldn't believe how calm I was. Despite being in front of this walking gorgeous red flag. I must have gone crazy. I even greeted him.

"Gre-greetings!" Both Veronica and Melissa followed my lead.

However, just before I could raise my head, I froze when a sharp sword was pointed at me.

"Yvette!"

"Princess!"

Both Veronica and Nicholas were alarmed. However before they could get near me, I raised my right hand to stop them.

Don't come or you might just infuriate the situation more.

"Who. Are. You?" Prince Ephraim pushed his sword even more. I could feel the sting of the tip of his sword on my neck now. I gulped as my gaze glued to his cold golden eyes.
