Chapter Twenty Three: The Ominous Glow

Kara's father had made his way out of his new home and had traversed the harsh lands of the Underworld to find himself back at his home, deep in the Vampire Kingdom. He had returned in hopes that he could learn more about the plans of his successor. He wanted to know what destruction they had planned for the rest of the Underworld. Kara was still alive and he needed to know if they had plans to take her life. And if they did, he would do whatever he could to stop them.

As he makes his way through the darkened, Rocky city that rested between the unforgiving mountains, he finds his home had been completely emptied. This had made no sense to him though. He has half expected to see the streets filled with the cheers and drunken stoopers of his people. But Noone was in sight. The city was dead silent. He looked to the Castle, seeing his former Palace. Impressive in appearance, and looking to still contain its former glory. And at the same time, it felt different. It felt much darker than he had remembered. It smelt of carnage and wreaked of Coldness. He knew the answers he seemed would not be found in the city and so he made his way to the castle resting above on the peak of the mountain.

He made his way through the castle doors, finding Noone. No guards, no signs of life whatsoever. He enters the throne room sees empty thrones sitting before him. " Hm" he chimed to himself as he approached the thrones, looking over them and remincing on the time in which he sat upon it. He was King once, and had no desire to be again. The Kingdom had never accepted his love for Aurora. And he would never understand the reasons for it. Why was it so hard for his people to accept the unity of the Underworld? Why had they become so vicious in his absence.

" Greetings..Kalivare " Kalivare turns quickly to see his old nemisis, Sachofri, wearing atop his head what was once Kalivares crown

" I see that you took my place " Kalivare doesn't take his eyes from the King. " And I see that you have returned. I surely thought we would have seen the last of you" Sachofri answers, walking past Kalivare to take a seat upon his throne.

" I have been through more than you could ever realize to get back here " Kalivare watches on as Sachofri smiled and clasped his hands together on his legs.

" And we have lost our children thanks to your daughter" Sachofri closes his eyes and Sighs.

" You almost doomed our people when you left. It was a good thing that I lead our people when I did, otherwise we might not be here anymore" The King leans back in chair, seeming pleased with himself for some reason.

" Well from what I could see, the people are gone. Off destroying more Kingdoms? " Kalivare growls which makes the King sit forward in his throne.

" You say our work I take it? It was a long time coming and we took advantage of the chaos. And our people are gone because they are taking back what is ours " Sachofri smirks which confused Kalivare..

" What you talking about? " Kalivare questions, still not removing his eyes from the King.

" Our feasting grounds? Your wife and her people prevented us from taking it completely in the past but since her death, we have been reclaiming what is rightfully ours " Sachofri continued with his wicked smile that left Kalivare worried.

" So that is it? You are going to destroy earth.." Kalivare says, thinking only of the horrors that earth must be enduring at this time.

" Not destroy, only feast. There is a difference " Sachofri laughs. " Not to me.." Kalivare snaps back quickly. " You are after my daughter too I imagine.." Kalivare knew he needed to get as much information as he could before he took his leave. He did not want to be here any longer than needed.

" We had originally intended too, yes. But after learning of her..mental tormentation, we decided to let her mind rot. Without her dog..she is weak and pitiful. She is at least half of our kind and so we have let her live. But she is still a stain on our people. And if she were to act out of place again, we would have to wipe the stain clean " Sachofri's threats were loud and clear.

"There will come a day, where you fall from your throne Sachofri. And when that day comes, I will be there, smiling over your body as you are thrown off the palace walls and left behind and forgotten" Kalivare clinches his fist tightly.

" And who will ensure my demise? You? Your spawn? There is nothing that you nor anyone else can do to remove me. The Vampiric Kingdom is stronger than it ever has been. And that is thanks to me, and thanks to the blood that you have denied your people of for far too long" Sachofri now stands up from his Throne.

" Leave to your slums Kalivare. You are not welcome in my Kingdom" Sachofri warns. Kalivare had gotten the information he needed for the time being. He knew that Kara was safe for the time being and with that, he took his leave, heading back to his temporary home.

As he did so, he pulled out the Trinket from his Pocket. Almost looking to it for comfort. He had grown so attached to it in his time with it. He it still glowed, but now he noticed that it was growing slightly brighter, warming his cold hands. " I know I'm going to have to tell her at some point about Earth. But...I have to..-" he stops In midsentence, hearing a familiar voice in his head. " My love"
