Chapter Twenty Nine: Alone With Purpose

Gwen had walked away from Kara, not being able to stand the sight of her for the time being. She had never felt so alone. She had so many questions burning inside of her as well. She truly had no idea as to how she would have came back life. One minute she is dead and the next, she was here in the Underworld.

Gwen makes her way through the crumbled wasteland that was now the Underworld, finding a small town that had been abandoned by energy rain of before.

She had managed to find clothes and put them on in an small abandoned home, , finally feeling a sense of warmth since her first time returning to the Underworld. " I hope it was worth it " Gwen says as she punches her fist through a wall of the home. There had been a part of her that was willing to let Kara go. Though, and ever more large and much louder part that wanted to be destructive. But she wouldn't. She would stop herself before she would ever allow for her emotions to take her that far. In her heart, she knew that Kara would find a way to bring Gabriel back. That is why she walked away, she couldn't be around when that happens. It would hurt her far to greatly.

Kalivare steps through the entrance of the door that Gwen had left open. He had chosen to follow her despite knowing that she would be upset that he did. Much like his own daughter, she didn't seem to have any intention of keeping him around.

" May I come in? " he knocks, as if though he had not already invaded her space. " What do you want.." Gwen held her head down as she pulled her fist from the wall as Kalivare stepped into the home and took a chair across from Gwen who was still standing in front of the hole in the wall.

" I know you are upset. And I know that it hurts. To lose a love.." he explains as Gwen laughs at the audacity of his words.

" You don't know what it is like. Your wife died..Kara chose me over someone else.." Gwen growls and closes her eyes, trying to fight the pain she was feeling inside.

" That might be so, but we are both without, are we not? " Kalivare truly did feel as though they shared the same pain. He was offering her the same comfort that he would offer Kara if she had only wanted it.

" Yes but it is not the same..I just wish.." Gwen stopped herself, realizing how selfish she was for even thinking such things.

" You wished that she didn't love Gabriel. And that you could be the one in his place? " Kalivare pointed out which made Gwen's lips tremble, her thick black hair falling down past her face.

" You know, I wasn't a fan of their fate either at first.." Kalivare admitted.

" I always thought my daughter should be able to choose who she wed. Whom she loved. But I realized, that we can't really control that. Choosing who we love..is a gift that we can't give freely. And the world chooses who it feels would be best for it " Kalivare's words, whilst meant to comfort, only angered Gwen who quickly turned, her hair still draped over her face.

" The world can kiss my ass" She shouted but pulled back her tone immediately after.

" If the world wants them to be together. Then screw it. Let the world work its magic and let them be together again. I don't care anymore " Gwen walks over and sits down on a red cushioned chair which was across from Kalivare.

" You do care, if you didn't care you wouldn't feel so angry. And you have the right to be. But the world will do as it see's fit and we have to accept that. But that doesn't mean the end of the road for you" this makes Gwen look to him.

" You came back. And the world would not have allowed that without reason. There must be one. And you need to find out what the reason is. Perhaps some soul searching. Perhaps some time taken just for you is needed. But you have a purpose Gwen. And I believe you'll find it. I believe in you, I always have" Kalivare had know Gwen from a young age and had always seen the potential she had. If Kara would not unite the Kingdoms together, he had wished that Gwen would at least take his place.

And though she wanted to believe him, Gwen was not so sure about it. She had not loved in a long time and Kara was the first person who made her feel something in a long time. The world seemed to be without purpose for her.

" I can't return to her. I can't see her again" Gwen expressed to Kalivare who nodded in agreement. " I know, and I don't think anyone can force you too. I just want you to take your time and get your head right. And until then, you have my support " Kalivare smiles as he stands up, and leaves the home.

Gwen stayed in her chair, staring at table across the room that still had some left over food on it. The family that lived here must've evacuated rather quickly Gwen assumed. " Get my head right...
