Friends

"What?" he asked.

"You heard me clearly, be my friend" she responded as she got up.

"I hate being a teacher, I finished the academy because I started early, I don't like you so why on earth would I want to be your friend?" he asked.

'It will be better to try than to fight with each other all of the time, I will eventually get tired of it, so will you" she responded and he sighed.

'You do have a point, fine, here" he said as he bright forth his hand and she looked at him.

'Go on let's try being friends" he said and she smiled then his eyes widened as they shook hands.

"Friends," she said and he scoffed.

'Damn you are weird, can't help it" he said and she laughed as he stared at her then clenched his fists and turned away from her.

'Still want to train?" she asked and he looked at her with a cold gaze.

'It's okay if you don't, I mean all friendship starts off with getting to know each either, we might as well try your highness" she said and he sighed as he passed his fingers through his hair.

'Alright, I guess we can go into the city and uh... o you want to do anything?" he asked.

'We can go have coffee or ice cream" she responded then he sighed and walked away as she stared at him.

'What are you waiting for? come along" he said and she smiled as she went after him.

"Will you walk or do you want a horse?" he asked as she looked at him.

'Uh.. your highness about that my horse, where is he?" she asked.

'My horse, not yours, he is here, I brought him since we don't know how long we will be here" he responded as she blew a whistle, along with the prince and two horses came running to them from the royal stables and she smiled.

'Hey boy" she said as she rubbed his face.

'I am glad you brought him" she said as the prince got onto his horse and she got onto hers.

"I know a good coffee shop, well never mind, you can have your ice cream," he said as he rode off towards the city and she smiled as she followed him.

'Why do you girls like ice cream so much?" he asked and she scoffed.

'I am sorry your highness but this is not only with girls, ice creams just make one day, especially if it's going bad, but it also helps you keep your cool" she replied and he sighed.

'That's not a good enough reason" he said as they stopped by a shop where there were a lot of people and they got off of their horses.

'Easy boy" she said for her horse was not used to being in the crowd.

'Keep that animal under control" he said as they went into the ice cream parlor.

"Woah," she said as a few girls came to the prince and he began talking with them.

"I wonder why I am even trying to be his friend? if wasn't for a peace treaty I would probably be having him for breakfast" she mumbled as she looked at him then tapped him on the shoulder and he looked at her.

'What?" he asked and she downed her head as he peeked at her then sighed.

'I came here with a student of mine, I will see you guys later" he said and the girls laughed as he moved away from them.

"Order what you want, I will pay," he said and she was about to say something but didn't, the girl went and ordered two chocolate ice creams and both of them sat down by the window corner of the parlor.

'Here" she said as she handed him the ice cream and he looked at her then sighed as he collected it.

'I do like the chocolate flavor so thanks" he said as she ate completely ignoring him.

'Have you gone deaf?" he asked and she glanced at him.

'No i have not" she responded.

"Tell me Seraphina why are you in the academy exactly?" he asked.

'To gain something" she responded.

'To gain what exactly?" he asked.

'Trust" she responded.

'Why?" he asked.

'Isn't that what people my age do to make friends, study, get a good job, or marry off to some good rich guy" she responded and he scoffed.

'Yeah a lot of people follow that routine" he said.

'What's wrong with that routine? in this world not everyone's life is perfect your highness" she replied and h glanced at her as she ate.

'I think you are dumb at times but you actually understand the way the world works" he said.

'Exactly what I taught of you at first, turns out I was a bit wrong" she replied and he scoffed.

'You are.. never mind... I think that everyone can still get up on their own, both ways are understandable" he said and she smiled then looked at him.

"True, I will tell you this much about me, I don't care about riches, that doesn't matter to me, what does is the people I care about... I always choose that over anything else, even my own happiness" she said and his eyes widened as he stared at her.

'You just spoke the way a royal should" he replied.

'I know, what about you?" she asked.

'I don't know" he responded.

"Sure you do, it could be anything that suits a prince, what? be a great king? isn't that what most of the princes aim for?" she asked and he scoffed.

'I don't really care about it but if I have to answer that then yes... I do care about my people a lot and wish to do what's best for them if that means having to become a great king" he responded and she sighed in relief upon hearing him say that.
