Chapter 30: Ask Me Again

The last thing Nathan ever wanted to do was let Brooke go. He cradled her to him for several moments after she fell asleep. He wondered if she’d be facing more of the same nightmares she seemed to have had the previous night. As he gazed at her all he could see was the face of a woman in a deep and peaceful sleep.

But he on the other hand, was wired. He carefully untangled Brooke’s limbs from his own and called two of the security patrols to come with him for a run. They met him in form on the porch, and they took off, first to see to Brooke’s cabin. Guards opened the gate and cabin for them so Nathan could walk through without having to lose the shift. He was glad to see the bulk of the mess was gone. The windows had already been replaced by the new windows they’d already ordered, and the ruined furniture had been removed. Both bathrooms and most of the master bathroom had been completed as well.
