Brooke felt him before she saw him. She could feel his eyes resting on her as she walked the path from the front door to her car. Everything she’d gone through in the past several weeks fell away as she lifted her eyes, and they locked onto his. Even the biting cold of the winter morning seemed to subside as she watched him get out of his truck and move towards her. She was torn between relief and regret.
