Nevena

I was lulled into sleep, as if I was in a baby’s cradle. The feeling of bliss and happiness that was swelling in my chest was perfect. I have never felt that before, except for when I looked at Ivan’s face, especially when he was smiling.

I opened my eyes and I saw my mom’s face and the face of a stranger, both of them smiling at me. I reached out for them with my chubby baby hands, but suddenly I felt like I was falling – and so I did.

I got up and I straightened my simple white linen dress that was stained green from me falling on the ground that was covered in grass.

I turned around and I saw the hammock I was lounging on, that lulled me to sleep and made me feel like I was a baby. For no apparent reason, I laughed. Maybe because the day was sunny and gorgeous, and I had no reason not to be happy. Maybe I simply laughed at my own clumsiness. Or maybe I was laughing because I saw Ivan in front of me.
