I closed my eyes and thought about Hikaru, trying to form another link. I could see that they were still chained in the same position down in the basement. Sebastian was pacing in front of them, but I couldn’t hear what he was saying. I heard Hikaru’s voice in my mind, saying, “Be respectful, the alpha is very traditional. I’ll keep Sebastian distracted. I love you.”


“I love you, too,” I said out loud, then tried to figure out how to say it over mindlink. It took some straining, but I think it finally worked. I could see a subtle smile form on their gorgeous, battered face. 


I got out of the vehicle and opened the back door to dig around Juno’s storage compartment. I knew she had one of those big fancy first aid kits filled with things she’d never use. I had no idea what I’d be walking into, but maybe if I could get some samples from the alpha to take back to the lab I’d have more insight on how to actually help him.
