Memories of the Two of Them

"I wasn't busy for long. It ended around eight. I was afraid I would disturb you after you rested." Ethan was afraid that Anita would ask him, so he thought of an excuse already.

Now that he heard Anita mention it, he said the excuse quickly.

"Okay, by the way, there's something I want you to taste. Let's see if you remember," Anita said as she opened the bag she always carried and pulled out two peppermint candies.

Then, she poured the ice water that the waiter had just brought over into their glasses and placed them in front of them. Then, she looked up at Ethan and said, "Here, let's see if you still remember."

Ethan saw a candy in Anita's outstretched hand. The candy was the one they used to eat often. He looked at the ice water in front of him. He understood immediately.
