-Anastasia’s POV-
“Why?” I murmured as Ajax took off his shirt and covered me with it.
He didn’t answer me but helped me stand up before he pulling me closer to his chest.
“Why are you here?” I stared at his sad face as he guided me out of the house. The locked door was already open, but I couldn’t care less. I couldn’t believe he was here. “After two years?”
“I will explain.” He gave me a blank look before he turned around and threw me into the backseat of a jeep parked by the house.
I bit my lips and watched him getting on the driver’s seat and starting the engine.
“Why can’t you explain now?”
My nails sank in my palms, but I didn’t care about the pain.
“We have to leave as soon as possible.” He looked at the route and didn’t even glance at me. This gave me a feeling of the way Jenna and Anne treated me, though he was supposed to be my older brother, my only family in the world.
I could feel my tears welling up in my eyes. I tried to control them but I couldn’t. “Explain to me, NOW!”
I didn’t know why I just burst into tears, but at this point I didn’t care.
I hated him.
He had left me living in hell and gone out without telling me what he had been leaving for. I had suffered from the worry about him at first and then at myself...God knew how I had survived the torture. But after two years he just showed up out of nowhere, took me with him, and was now leading me to a place I didn’t know about.
The d*mn selfish man! How could he return and act like nothing happened?
When we stopped in the woods for a rest, I jumped on him, forcing him to stop the car in the middle of the woods. He wrestled with me, trying to take control of the steering wheel before he could press the brake and stopped the car.
“Are you crazy?” Ajax shouted at me and pried off my hands away from the steering wheel as the car screeched to a halt. He jumped out of the jeep and dragged me out of it.
“You want a fight?” he demanded, pushing me onto the ground and crossing his arms.
“Yes! I am crazy and da want to kick your as*s!” I shrieked and pounced on him after getting on my feet.
He ducked it agilely and swept me down with his right leg. I bounced up from the ground before hitting his belly with my fists.
He let out a painful growl and pulled my Ahair to him. I could not help but loosen my control of his legs and was lifted up in the air.
“Let me go, you jer*k!” I grabbed his hands tightly in order to ease my hair from his hands.
“Can you stop?” He said calmly like he never had a fight just now.
“NO!!!” I screamed and intended to kick him in his crotch, but he was faster. He grabbed my arms and twisted me 180° in air. Great, I'm like a little girl ready to be spanked.
"Can we stop this, Ana?" His voice came from above.
My face heated up. My anger got welled up in my chest. “Huh, what you want to do now, BIG BROTHER? Spank me for being naughty?”
He sighed and said with his knees on my back, “ I won’t hurt you, little sister.”
I bit my lips teeth clenched, “ Oh isn't that true? Where were you in the past two years?”
He let out a sigh and released me. "Get in the van. We need to drive another two hours."
The van drove out of the woods and for the first time in my 18 years life, I'm beyond the border of the Black Moon Pack.
I didn't bother to look back.
We remained silent on the way to the new pack. The Night Howlers. I had heard Alpha Don cursing it a thousand times, before he got wasted and gave me the routinely beating up. It is a strong pack with great army. He took it as his arch rival.
“Anastasia, we will arrive in a new pack. You can start a new life there.” Ajax said out of blue.
A new life...could a wolf-less girl survive in such Spartan-like Pack? I made an unnoticeable grimace.
“No one will bully you, I promise.”
I don't think so.
“But you need to obey the rules there. They are strict.”
God Dam*n. You don't need to remind me that. I survived only because I know how to obey rules
“We will see the alpha first and then I will show you around.”
That does arouse some of my interests. It is rumored he is the most handsome Alpha in North America.
My thoughts kept roaming wild when we arrived at the pack house of the Night Howlers. Ajax told me to wait outside Alpha's office when he met with the Alpha. "Stay here, and don't go anywhere." He warned me.
I gave him an eye-rolling.
10 minutes later he came out. "Alpha is ready to see you.” He told me, and I sensed unease in his voice.
Nervousness suddenly floods me. What's going to happen in this room?
I gulped and knocked the door. A man’s deep, magnetic voice, “Come in.”
He had a melodious voice and it somehow made me shiver. I didn’t know what the feeling was...Ajax nudged me to go inside. I gave him a glare and opened the door.
There sat a square shouldered man who lifted up his head when he heard the door creaking. He had blue eyes whose color was like the ocean of depth, which reminded me of his voice. The thin lips...they kinda impressed me. I once heard that men with thin lips were cold hearted. Was he emotionless?
The afternoon sunlight was still dazzling and scorching, but his gaze left me soaked in coolness. The heat I was enduring went away as soon as we had eye contact.
He stood up from his leather chair and strode to me before he called me
“Anastasia?”
That was the moment I recalled another rumor.
He is also the most dangerous Alpha in North America.
And he is gonna kill me.
