Maya smiled weakly at him, biting her lower lip gently in response before she turned her gaze aside and closed her eyes, allowing herself to lean against him as she took a few slow breaths. It was a struggle not to let out a frustrated groan while he rubbed his thumb soothingly across her skin, however, but she resisted the temptation and simply held her tongue as she tried her best not to show him her displeasure. She didn't want to give him a reason to leave her alone again anytime soon, especially since she didn't think she would be able to handle his absence on her own emotionally in the future, but she couldn't deny the fact that it felt good having his warm body pressed against hers again either. She hoped that she would be able to persuade him to remain by her side at least until they returned home later that afternoon...though, judging from the way he acted toward her lately, he probably wouldn't be willing to stay with her unless he had to anyway.
