When Jamal walked into the emergency room at 9:00 A.M., a nurse escorted him over towards the main desk while informing him that the doctor was expecting him in his private office at a later time. Then another nurse helped him locate Maya's room which was located towards the far corner of the hospital in a different wing from the rest of the patients that were recovering from various accidents and traumas sustained after falling down the stairs at home. When Jamal opened the door leading inside of Maya's room and stepped inside, the sight before his eyes almost brought tears to his own eyes. There was Maya lying peacefully underneath a thick white sheet, hooked up to numerous machines along the right side of the wall, and an IV drip attached to her right arm. She appeared to be breathing normally for some reason, which was strange considering how weak her heartbeat sounded like through his stethoscope.
