PLEASE, LOOK AT ME

"Welcome, Prince Cloud, Miss Ara."

The waiters greeted us. Cloud made me smile at all the royal servants who greeted me. However, this sadness in my heart can't seem to hide from him.

Thank you, Cloud. Have allowed me to live in this beautiful world. Meeting you was a miracle for me.

Cloud then escorted me to the front of the room.

"Have a good rest, Ara," he said, then kissed my forehead.

Clouds?

I was surprised by this attitude. I never thought he would kiss my forehead. He made my cheeks turn red. He then rubbed my head before walking away.

My heart is confused, and I don't know what to do. I just let him get away from me. I can only smile at him, and it seems like Cloud understands. Then he walked away from my room.

A few days later…

I've been busy doing my homework for the past few days. Until I forget how long I haven't seen Rain. Rain, who used to walk into my room, isn't anymore. I suddenly thought of him and wanted to meet him soon.

I then went out looking for him. Hope to meet him soon. I followed the path to the pavilion of the palace. Before long, I saw Rain walking with the Minister of Defense from a distance. The two of them looked serious about something.

I walked quickly to meet Rain. I saw his right hand wrapped in a white bandage.

"Prince Rain, we haven't seen each other for a long time."

I immediately approached and greeted him, but Rain didn't seem to see and hear me.

"Prince Rain, are you all right?" I asked again who saw his right hand bandaged.

"Sorry, Prince, Miss. I'd better excuse myself first."

The Minister of Defense said goodbye to us. It seemed that he felt bad about this situation.

"Wait, Mr. Dave. I'm coming with you."

W-what?!

Rain surprised me with his words. He didn't care about me at all. Not even replying to my greeting surprised me with his unusual attitude.

Rain?

He walked away from me just like that, without a word, without saying goodbye. He continued his conversation with the Minister of Defense and left me alone in the garden.

Rain, what's wrong with you?

***

The days passed so strangely, not like usual. The warmth that I felt seemed to be lost in the Rain. My Rain never appeared in front of me again.

My heart is wondering, is there a mistake that I made so Rain doesn't care about me anymore? I haven't got the answer yet. Tonight I can't sleep either. Should I see him?

Take my coat. The drizzle tonight accompanied me on foot towards his residence west of the palace. When I got there, I saw the light was still on, so I knocked on the door.

Several maids opened the door and let me in. I started my purpose here, and the maids said that Rain was on the roof terrace tonight.

"Tonight? Isn't it drizzling outside?" I asked the waiters.

"We don't know, Miss. Prince Rain's attitude had changed drastically in the past few days. We dare not ask why." The first waiter told.

"We also found broken glass in the bathroom. It looks like Prince Rain intentionally injured him." The second servant spoke.

"Self-injuring?" I asked immediately.

"That's right, Miss. It's best if you ask Prince Rain directly. We're sorry."

The third servant said goodbye, followed by the other two servants. The words of the servants of the Rain residence made me immediately walk towards the roof terrace of his residence.

"Rain!"

I saw Rain let his body soaked in raindrops.

"Rain!"

Rain didn't answer my call. He remained silent as he looked up at the sky pouring down its raindrops. I don't care about myself anymore, and I run toward him. I let the raindrops wet my body.

"Rain, what are you doing?"

I arrived before him while holding back the falling Rain with my coat. However, Rain was silent.

"Rain, did I make a mistake? Tell me, Rain, don't be silent."

I'm begging. There seemed to be a misunderstanding between us, but Rain didn't budge. He turned around, turned around, and walked away from me.

This is not right!

My heart is a mess. Rain is so cold to me. I then ran after him and held him off with both hands.

"Rain, please speak. Please…"

My eyes twitched as if signaling that this clear crystal would come out of hiding. I swallowed my saliva, trying to stay calm when treated like this.

"Rain..."

Rain seemed to notice that I was still waiting for him to speak. He let go of my hands that were holding his body. He then turned to face me.

"Ara…"

Rain's voice was hoarse. He touched my hair with his white bandaged right hand.

"Rain, tell me. What made you like this?" I asked immediately, not wanting to waste any time.

Rain was silent for a moment. He then held my right hand. His white bandaged hand then brought mine to his chest, right at his heart.

"Ara, you know what? You are like the air I breathe. But now the air is gone. My chest feels tight."

"Rain-"

"I'm sick of seeing it. I'm sick," he said with a look full of pain.

"Rain, did you see it? What do you see?" I asked, not realizing what he meant.

"I saw you with him, with my brother," he answered quietly as he removed my hand from his chest.

"Rain, I—"

"Ara, maybe I was expecting too much from you and let this heart hurt."

"Rain, did you see us at the waterfall?" I asked to be sure.

Rain was silent, and he repeatedly swallowed with a sad look at me.

"You'd better go back to your room. I'm afraid Cloud will look for you."

"But, Rain—"

"Go."

I tried to explain what had happened. I feel there is a misunderstanding that must resolve immediately.

"Rain, not everything you see is true."

I tried to explain it to him, but Rain refused.

"Please don't break my heart, Ara. Go before this patience runs out."

Rain…

I kicked him out. Only this time, I was kicked out by Rain. He turned his back on me and asked me to leave him. It was so painful to be ignored by him. I can't stand this clear crystal any longer. Tears fell down my cheeks as my footsteps left Rain.

I went down to the ground floor, wiping my tears. The Rain residence's maids seemed to be trying to ask how I was doing, but I ignored them. I just kept running from his residence, past the deserted palace gardens. Right now, I'm lost. I'm helpless.

"Rain, you misunderstood."

I tried to calm myself when I reached the middle of the park—trying to walk as usual to not attract the attention of other palace residents.

My heart is sad, directionless. It's like losing a lot of love. Which I've been waiting for for a long time.

Rain, why does it have to be like this?

I try to act normal. I passed the path in the park while enjoying the raindrops that wet my body. I let these raindrops accompany my lonely night.
