Chapter Twenty Three: For The Better

A large bolt of lighting shot out from Penny's finger, crashing into a rock and exploding it into hundreds of tiny bits as Ember cheered her on with screams of excitement.

" DUDE THAT IS SO COOL" Ember shrieks as Penny shoots another bolt of lighting at another rock across the yard, blasting into pieces.

" I can't believe I can shoot lightning! " Penny squeals as she turns to Ember who hugs her tightly. " I am so proud of you! Your level of kickass has just went into overdrive! " Ember congratulated as they both began jumping and down in excitement.

" Well, I don't know how I'm going to use this exactly..well except for exploding rocks" Penny stopping jumping as she began to fall into the deep thought.

Whilst this power seemed amazing, and would surely be a big help for her, the actual use for it was a little more than complicated. " Well you might be able to generate electricity where there isn't any? You could also probably use this as defense in battle. Or maybe even use it to impress people" Ember joked which received a slight giggle from Penny. " I don't think anyone is going to be all that impressed by the power. Humans would be, but not the people of the Underworld. They have seen way more interesting things I'm sure" Penny estimated. Though Ember had some good ideas and she would keep them in mind.

" Well, I'm sure we haven't even scratched the surface of what you can do. By the time you are ready to go back, you are going to be practically unstoppable" Ember declared as she placed her hand on Penny's shoulder in a friendly manner. " But we have to work on seeing what else you can do first" She smiled as she removed her hand and stepped back a few feet. " So terrain manipulation and shooting lightning is two things off the list. Let's see what else you've got! " Ember and Penny smirked as they began testing the powers and limits of Penny.

Meanwhile, Lysette was in her room, running her fingers over an object in her hands, staring down at it, seeming as though she was confused about what to do. The object, was Penny's necklace. The necklace that had been gifted to Penny so long ago. The same necklace that held the secret to being able to get back to the Underworld. She knew the power behind the object, and she knew that Penny was not ready for it. " It was just like I had seen before" Lysette remarked, staring down and clenching her first around the necklace. It had only taken a short time before Penny had decided to travel back to the Underworld. And had she known what the necklace was capable of, she would be able to succeed. And if it were still in her possession, she would have figured that secret out relatively quickly. But she was not ready for that journey quite yet. And whilst Lysette had never wanted to take the necklace from Penny, but she knew this action would save Penny's life in the long run. Though, the deceit was slowly beginning to eat away at Lysette. Lying to Penny was something that she had never wanted to do but the circumstance demanded it. " I know she will understand someday " Lysette would often tell herself to justify the action, though even she knew that it was in bad taste.

" She just needs a little more time" Lysette sighed as she began falling into a deep sleep, having been tired more than usual as of late. The necklace, falling from her hand and onto the bed once her hand had relaxed.
