And there she was, back in her room, almost as though she had never left at all. Penny, after getting out of bed and heading down stairs, was greeted by the sight of Penny who was eating food and who seemed to not be to surprised to Penny.
" I'm sorry I was gone for so long..but..I need to talk to you. Where is Lysette? " Penny asked, searching the room for her. " Lysette is still in her room..dude you just went up stairs a few minutes ago" Ember explained to Penny who at this point, was not too shocked that time had somehow not passed considering all the things she had just seen.
Penny, took Ember by the hand and lead her outside, into the night and back to the tree under which the two would usually sit after training.
" What's up with you..? You went to Lysettes room and then came out all weird and now this.." Ember was concerned for Penny. Perhaps she was under a great deal of stress and was beginning to let it get to her a little too much. Whatever the case was, Ember would at the very least hear out what Penny had to say.
Penny, after taking a deep breath, began explaining everything that had happened. Traveling to the Underworld, meeting her grandparents, and even the task she was chosen to do to save the world. However, Penny had decided to not mention her own sacrifice as she did not want to worry Ember.
It took several Minutes after the long winded explanation for Ember to collect her thoughts and analyze the situation that was presented to her. But as usual, she countered with her answer, trying to find logic within the chaos.
" So..you have to erase this Gabriel...so that the world can be restored to peace. And by doing this, you will probably become one of the most hated people in the Underworld because of how beloved Gabriel is.." Ember tried to understand the situation.
" Its not so much that he is beloved. I mean, he is, but he is the King of the Lycans. And he is destined to be the ruler of the Underworld alongside Kara. But that never happens, for a lot of different reasons. He does die and he does come back, but he was resurrected. And because of that, and because of how his death changed people, it made things worse. If he had stayed dead, I'm guessing it prevents a lot of the mistakes that happen going forward" Penny explained though Ember seemed to be a little less than supportive of this decision. " Penny, if you want my honest opinion. Whether it's humans, or vampires or Lycans, everyone is complicated. And everyone makes millions of decisions through their lifetime, that can affect a lot of different things. How we can be sure that his death and resurrection, is the one single thing that affected. It seems so bold and wreckless to isolate it all to that one thing" Ember explained, trying to use the most calm tone that she could muster.
" If what you say is true then the Underworld is naturally chaotic. And that means that the issue is so much bigger than him by himself. And it's your job, to see past the immediate issues here. You have to find, the actual root of the problem. Because it's very easy to say that the world is chaotic and they were born into it. And that is what corrupted them and the future and stuff. But what is the source of the actual corruption? Is it greed? If so, how can you, as the savior, combat against that? I'm not saying the solution your grandfather suggested is wrong. Because yes, it might be prevent it and that's one way to go about it. But, would it not be smarter to, at first, try to rid the corruption from the land itself..before anyone has to be erased" Ember had brought up some valid points. Ones that Penny had thought of but would not know where to begin.
" So we know, that the Vampires attacked the Lycans. And even then, we know the Vampires come here and cause a war. So Vampires are somewhat the root of the problem on the immediate front. Which means that perhaps we should start with the Vampire Kingdom. If we eliminate the issue there, that would prevent alot of the pain from happening" Ember suggested but Penny, who did agree with the plan, knew that it would not work.
" Time is already moving in the Underworld though. The Vampires have wreacked havoc on the Lycans which means the path has already been set. Unless we find a way to go back through time, we are back to square one" Penny explained. " Not to mention that Kara is half vampire and that might complicate it more" Penny holds her head up with both of her hands, her brain now throbbing with pain from the sheer stress of the situation. " I think that is why my grandfather believes Gabriel must be erased. It's the only thing that won't have long term effects" Penny adds.
" Well if Gabriel has to be erased, that would mean that realistically, only Kara, your mom, and your dad are the ones needed alive to make a change. If Gabriel doesn't live in the end, he is not needed" Ember could at least understand the reasons, but was still not comfortable with the decision.
" I don't know Penny. This situation is very complicated and very delicate. If one single wrong move is made, then it could be a disaster for everyone" Ember points out as she leans her head back and Sighs loudly, feeling the weight that Penny was now carrying. " But regardless, I will stand with you. And I won't say anything to Lysette. I will stand by you and your decision, and whatever it takes to make sure the world is saved, I'll do it " Ember looks to Penny who was completely unresponsive, curled up against the tree, seeming to be in deep thought. Ember wraps her arm around Penny and pulls her close to her. " We will figure this out. I don't know how but we will. It's going to be difficult but we can do this" Ember assures Penny who perks her head up a little, appreciating the support of Ember immensely. " I will say one thing though. In order to truly understand what we have to do..we have to return to the Underworld. Because something tells me that being there, and watching the developments, will help us make the right call" Ember knew that no matter what they did, they would be hated forever by one side or the other. But if they could make the decision that could bring the most peace, then that is what they would do. And abandoning Penny in her time of need, was something that Ember simply, could never do.
