Chapter Thirty Eight: The Assurance

Penny rushed Ember back home and closed the door behind them, with Ember being confused as to what the rush was despite not liking Aurora all that much.

" What's the deal? " Ember questioned, as Penny began pacing around the room, trying to clear her mind and calm down. " The last thing she said. About not wanting to help people fight their battles. That was directed towards the Lycans " Penny explained. " The Vampires attacked them, and whilst the Witches swore to protect them, the witches backed out in the end which left the Lycans on their own. They lost alot of people because of that" Penny barked, the rage growing bigger and bigger inside of her as Ember tried her best to calm Penny down.

" Okay, and that is her opinion. But that doesn't make it a right one. And if we are going to find out anything, we are going to have to put up with her attitude towards these matters. Otherwise, we will never get close" Ember tried to reason. And though Penny knew she was right, she had to release this anger somehow. " Aurora has never liked the Lycans. But has no problems using them when it suits her. The Witches, mainly Aurora have screwed over the Lycans and will do it time and time again. It just pisses me off " Penny paces even faster around the room as Ember watches on, helpless to do anything.

" Does it anger you because you feel bad for the Lycans? Or does it anger you because you both feel bad for the Lycans, and ashamed that your people would so such horrible things? " Ember asked point blank which, in turn, made Penny stop pacing around the room. " What? " Penny growled at Ember, her eyes filled with Anger, though Ember stood courageously and firm with her point. " I would be ashamed too. What the witches have done and will do is wrong. But to be honest, we knew it was going to be bad when we came here. And we knew how deep we would have to go. You can't be angry about something you can't change. All you can do, is make sure that when the time is right, you do the right thing" Ember stood up placed her hands on Penny's shoulders, trying to slow Penny down so that she could get the Young Witch to focus.

" My people have taken so much from them already and I am expected to do that again" Penny sheds a few tears, which Ember does her best to wipe away from her cheeks.

" These people, are not your people. You might be a Witch but you'll never be as selfish as them. Don't let their mistakes and selfishness, be something that weighs on you" Ember pulls Penny into a tight embrace, refusing to let her go until she knew that Penny was thinking clearly.

" Its okay to be upset. I didn't mean to make it sound like it's not. But you have to remember that no matter what, you are here to make a difference. And you will end the suffering, and the pain. One way or the other" Ember smiles at Penny whose tears were beginning to drip down her chin. " I don't like the bitch either, but we have to keep up appearances. Because right now, Aurora has no intention of taking the throne. That will change. And we have to focus on being prepared" Both were not sure how bad things would get, but getting close to Aurora seemed like a good option on learning what they would need to know going forward.

" I know that you are right. But I hate her. I hate her for what she does and the way she thinks" Penny confesses as Penny continues to hold onto her.

" I know you do. I do too. And she will pay someday for the pain she causes but that is not our battle" Ember assured Penny to the best of her abilities. " Thank you" Penny cries into Ember's shoulder, as Ember pulls her closer. " Its going to be okay" Ember and Penny stay in each other's arms for several minutes, long enough for Penny to cry out her frustration and finally calm down. " We have to go back.." Penny relented as she broke free from Embers grasp. " We don't have to do so today, but we won't have to eventually" Ember answered, hating herself for even having to speak those words, knowing it meant seeing that horrible excuse for a Princess again. " I am gonna have to work on getting myself together" Penny laughs as she wipes her tears away, taking a few steps back so that she could have some room to breathe. " Yeah, I would say so" Ember chuckles as the two stood for a moment, not saying another word but knowing what the other was thinking, feeling each other's pain.

" I think I'm going to go pick me out a room and take a nap or something. I'm just really tired" Penny finally breaks the silence as she walks away, dissapearing down a hall and entering a room, leaving Ember alone in the living room.

" Yeah" Ember says to herself as she falls down on the couch and eventually, into a deep sleep.
