Chapter Sixty Eight: The Wild Card

The Confrontation with Aurora had told Ember all she needed to know. If she wanted this ordeal to come to an end, then she would need to confront Aurora herself. Staying in the shadows would not be the ideal way to go though she knew that Penny and Raven would not agree with this strategy. Even to Ember, it was a troublesome decision because it would surely be a trap. Aurora would know all too well that Ember would come to her. But she was familiar with Auroras tactics, the manipulation, the evil intent to seperate them at all cost.

" I am far stronger than you could possibly imagine Aurora...and you are playing a dangerous game with a wild card now.." Ember smiled as she made her way to the castle to confront the evil.

As she made her way to the castle, she found no resistance whatsoever. In fact, the guards seemed to turn a blind eye to her which only confirmed Embers suspicions. She made her way into the castle, finding very little, if any at all, people. It's as though they had cleared out for her arrival.

Once she arrived in the throne room, Ember found herself greeted by her foe, Princess Aurora who was waiting, almost seeming to be thrilled at the sight of Ember falling into her trap by answering her call.

" I know why you are here " Aurora smirked. " And before we get started I would like to say, that I am more than pleased with your progress" Aurora sat down on the throne, one leg slumped over the arm of the chair. She was relaxed and felt unthreatened which only frustrated Ember who tried her best to remain calm.

" I know that you have started realizing you are more than just a human.." Aurora glanced down at her nails which had been painted with a rather mystifying pinkish color, that swirled upon her nailed like a river as though there were a pink ocean trapped within.

" I don't care what I am, I only care about what you are going to do " Ember growled, choosing to not approach Aurora any closer.

" Oh yes, because I am the problem. I am the reason that things are so bad here. You've come to stop me because of how much of a monster I am..is that it? " Aurora smirked as she glanced back to Ember who seemed unshaken.

" For someone who prides themself at being a few steps ahead, you don't seem to know very much" Ember laughed confidently.

" Yes, I suppose that is true. But I know enough" Aurora closed her eyes and took a deep breathe as though she was reveling in the altercation.

" You haven't tried to kill me yet..which tells me that either you aren't going to kill me at all, or something is stopping you from doing so. Which means, that you being in my kingdom, is most puzzling" Aurora stood back to her feet and began walking ever so slowly towards Ember who held her ground.

" You saw things. You heard things. You know things that Noone else knows now that you've kissed the abyss deeply, and found comfort in its sweet embrace" Aurora smirked as she arrived only a few inches apart from Ember.

" You have aided someone whom you know nothing about. Someone who is far more a danger than I ever could be. And that is because you only know the information that you are given, but you are never given the full story. The full..picture" Aurora begins pacing slowly around Ember who does waver.

" You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into. But I could show you, I could show you the truth" Aurora offered.

" Why would you show me anything.." Ember questioned as Aurora came to a stop in front of Ember yet again.

" Because even if what you see, is going to make you despise me and my people. I don't deal in the idea of being liked or even beloved. That is something far too easy to accomplish. Sometimes, what is nessacary..is not what is popular. You are distraught, you are shaken but you hold your ground. You've been dragged into something so far above your own head that you have no idea what you are even doing. You are pushing forward because it is all you know. So..I want to show you the truth..because I want to see what you will do. I want to see what you will do..even if it does end badly for me. Though, in the effort of pure honesty..I don't think it will" Aurora smiled and placed her arms behind her back as she awaited Embers response who thought long and hard on this offer.

" How would you show me..this..truth" Ember questioned..

" I have my ways " Aurora smiled again as she continued to wait for confirmation.

" Show me" Ember answered, confident in her decision.
