The People Who're Suppose To Kill Me All Fell For Me Instead

Chapter 122

A-A+

Editor: meowmiao

Original world. 21st Century. Earth.

It was currently night time in China, nearly 12 a.m. Apart from some night owls, people with regular sleeping habits should all be asleep.

The lights of houses in the neighbourhood had already gone out but the streetlights were still bright. Their warm yellow glow embellished the tranquil darkness.

"Meow…"

Cats generally had good night vision. At this time, in a duplex house in the eastern district of City C, a big silver tabby cat crouched on the owner of the house. Its light-green vertical pupils stared quietly at the seemingly asleep dark-haired youth as it continued to purr softly.

The house wasn't too big, but was spacious enough for the youth alone… ah, and a cat. In fact, there was even some additional space.

The owner could be considered a person pretty good at keeping tidy, decorating his private space rather cosily. He didn't allow his house to become a mess just because he lived alone.

No matter how one looked, the big cat lying on the dark-haired youth was just a beautiful purebred American Shorthair. A few minutes ago, the youth had just taken it out from his arms and placed it on his pillow, then went to sleep defenselessly.

But once he closed his eyes to go back to sleep, the regular-looking house cat crawled back onto the youth's chest. Its vertical pupils were fixed on the youth's beautiful face.

He had already waited patiently for four years. Theoretically, this little bit of time left wasn't something he lacked but for some reason, it was the most difficult to bear. For Xie Lan, these few short minutes passed agonisingly slowly.

Perhaps, in the next second, his beloved treasure would wake up. This thought constantly filled his mind, making Xie Lan unable to tear his gaze off for a single moment.

In reality, his beloved's slumber had something to do with him. It could even be said that he was the true director.

After the youth left the last world, it didn't take long for Xie Lan's abilities to break through the limitations of the Rules.

This was also partially due to the fact that he nearly warped into an evil spirit. When regular ghosts changed into an evil spirit, their power would grow exponentially and that was how Xie Lan obtained his power. Even after he recovered, these powers did not disappear.

For an inhabitant of that plane, it was simply a fantasy to dream of breaking through the boundaries of that world. But Xie Lan did it.

Out of partiality towards its host, 037 did not report the special existence it detected to its higher ups. By the time the Space-Time Organisation, which existed in a higher plane, noticed the abnormality, it was already too late to deal with it.

Not only could they not deal with it, those they sent to investigate this existence were utterly crushed. It was extremely embarrassing.

Unfortunately, they couldn't come up with any effective solutions and could only close one eye.

Since they could neither catch it nor defeat it, they had no way out apart from feeling despair.

Moreover, it wasn't easy to locate the special existence after the early stages. Once some time passed, they had no way of pinpointing where the other was.

This extent of growth was too terrifying. To be honest, the Space-Time Organisation had no desire to make an enemy out of such an existence. They could only pray it wasn't some crazy guy.

Xie Lan didn't bother with these troublesome feelings. Fortunately, the people from the Space-Time Organisation were extremely adaptable, not attempting the same folly a second time. Otherwise, when Xie Lan was done, nobody knew what might happen to the higher plane.

He had understood many things while breaking through the boundaries of the world, such as the reason his beloved had to go through so many worlds and why he existed in all of these planes.

The more he knew, the more hesitation he faced. But even so, he decided to do it according to his original plan.

He wanted to cross the boundaries of that world and find his beloved treasure.

Without the plane pointer, it wasn't easy to jump to the precise time period. Even the people of the Space-Time Organisation had to go through a few jumps while borrowing the limited signal from the plane pointer to find the exact period. They would repeat it many times, each attempt to close the difference.

Xie Lan knew when the youth completed his task, but he did not go to that time period, nor could he.

He needed to connect the line between the past and the future. If it wasn't connected, there would be no future for him and his lover.

After arriving at the specified time period, Xie Lan first changed his clothes into something that suited the current era in order to not arouse suspicion.

It was currently January, the northern hemisphere was experiencing winter. As a country residing in the northern hemisphere, China was not spared from the icy baptism.

With sufficient power, there was no need to speak of finding a person in a single plane. Even if there were 3000 worlds, it wouldn't be a problem for Xie Lan to find that person .

China, City C. Eastern Region.

The person he was searching for was here.

It was a piece of cake for Xie Lan to invade any information system in the world. He had already discovered the youth's address and arrived in no time.

From the wee hours in the morning, when the sky had just begun to lighten, Xie Lan had silently waited in an unremarkable corner of the apartment complex. When it was almost eight, the door was finally pushed open by a dark-haired youth.

Due to the weather, the youth wore a dark-coloured windbreaker, causing his figure to appear more slender. The faint winter sunlight fell upon him and his exposed skin was so pale, it gave off an illusion of ethereal beauty.

Perhaps, out of habit, his eyes were slightly curved at an angle.

Coupled with his handsome face, no matter which angle one looked from, there was no denying the youth's face was the type capable of gaining goodwill.

However, compared to the one in Xie Lan's memories, this face had yet to shed off its childish aura. There were still a few years before it would grow up to the one he knew.

Gu Yan woke up early this morning to buy breakfast for himself. He hadn't eaten the crabmeat porridge from Umami Hut for many days, so he really missed it.

"Ah Yan."

He had just taken a few steps when he heard a voice calling to him from behind. It was an unfamiliar voice but he still came to a halt and turned around for a look.

There was no one around. He raised a hand and rubbed his eyes. He couldn't have stayed up too late and was now hearing things, right?

Mn…

He should eat something to reward himself.

After coming to this conclusion, Gu Yan didn't take this matter to heart and his mind was quickly filled with his crabmeat porridge once more.

When one's greatest desire was unsuspecting and within reach, one cannot expect a person to have much self-control, even if this existence is something almost akin to God in some aspect.

Using every last bit of effort to exert restraint; the beautiful man's long lashes cast a small shadow on his face. His body was rigid, like a string stretched taut, about to break at any moment.

He can't, or more accurately, he was unwilling. Although he can now possess his most beloved treasure, at this point in time, the youth does not have any of those memories. Everything hadn't begun.

But should he create a 'beginning'…?

Xie Lan was hesitating. He didn't know what he should do.

The reason why the youth had to travel across multiple planes and worlds is due to the official answer given by the Space-Time Organisation. They stated that there were a large number of people with extremely deep resentment towards the youth. These resentments had gathered and mutated due to unknown reasons. It was so powerful that it impacted the 3-dimensional and higher worlds.

This problem can only be eliminated if the youth personally experiences each world. Therefore, the Space-Time Organisation sent a system code-named '037' to the youth for supervision and assistance.

These remarks were not nonsense, but neither did they conform to common sense. Even the internal staff of the Space-Time Organization felt this incident had come too abruptly.

If congregated grievances could affect the higher dimensions, wouldn't they be busied to death every time a war broke out? Clearly, this wasn't possible.

However, they simply couldn't discover the reason and could only accept such an absurd cause.

In that case, what was the reason for these grievances to be so strong, to the extent of affecting the higher dimension? Xie Lan understood many things. And once he connected the dots, he came to a single conclusion—

It was because of him.

He didn't know how long he had stood on the same spot, hesitating and yet, without an answer. In his visible field of view, he saw the beautiful dark-haired youth returning.

If he hadn't done such a thing, this person wouldn't need to go through so many unpleasant experiences and be forced to go through those worlds. He could have been able to lead a quiet and comfortable life.

Obviously, he wanted his beloved, but Xie Lan hesitated. In the end, he made a decision.

On this side, Gu Yan had just returned with his breakfast. Since there was nothing urgent, his footsteps were light and unhurried, extremely leisurely.

In the end, it wasn't far from his house so he arrived back at his home in just a few minutes. He walked to his door and fished out his keys as usual.

"Click."

The door opened.

But some matters were written in the stars.

He originally planned to return home to enjoy his breakfast while watching a show. But at the sound of his door unlocking, he froze.

His gaze fell on the small round thing sitting quietly on his doorstep. It didn't make any sounds, but Gu Yan still looked over.

Then, he discovered the small ball huddled beside his door was actually a cat. A kitten, in fact.

Meeting its gaze, Gu Yan seemed to have an illusion of hearing a soft mew.

[If you find me, you must definitely catch me.]

[You can't let go. As long as you act cute, I will become soft-hearted for you.]

"Meow."

It wasn't his illusion. Gu Yan quickly snapped out of it and discovered the little ball of fluff in the corner was now pressing down on his shoe.

Gu Yan took a step back but because of this, the kitten was unable to hold on to it and crawled forward once more. This time, Gu Yan crouched down.

The little fluff ball had also stopped moving. It raised its head to look at him while crying softly.

Although it didn't snow in the South, the cold wasn't something a tiny kitten could bear. This fluff ball was so clingy with him…

Originally, he had still been hesitating but once he heard the soft mew, his heart completely softened. He tried to reach out a hand towards the meowing kitten and touched its soft furry back without any resistance.

Soon, he held the kitten in his arms.

Although he hadn't raised a cat before, he could learn about it online. After serious contemplation, he brought the small and round fluff ball into his home.
