The Survivors on Top Floor (II)...

"We are here" Yuriko called out as she stopped the Hummer. All the vehicles behind them also stopped. Daichi jumped down from the car with the fire ax in his hands.

"Everything is kind of silent, I suspect my mom is already done dealing with the Zombies" Daichi grinned as he rubbed his chin, then he glanced toward the Hummer, which was parked down the street.

"Milord, a lot of people are watching us" Bella pointed towards the 3rd floor. Daichi immediately raised his head to see where Bella was pointing, but the glass panes were extremely reflective from the outside, so Daichi couldn't see the people, but he was going to trust Bella on this.

"Really? How did you even see them?" Yuriko blurted out. Since Bella was speaking in Japanese, Anthony and his group were unable to understand what was going on.

"Bella can sense them!" Bella declared with a proud look on her face. "Milord, you remember how I told you about the abilities I gained after sacrificing virgins?" After getting a nod from Daichi, Bella decided to continue her explanation. "This is another one of those abilities, Bella can sense when someone is watching her from some distance" Bella explained in a baby voice and Yuriko drastically paled when she heard that Bella had sacrificed virgins.

"I see… Bella, can you tell me how many people are inside the building?" Daichi asked and Bella eagerly nodded her head. She flicked her hands and scrunched her face in concentration.

After a few seconds of silence, Bella's expression shifted. She beamed at Daichi with a massive grin on her face. "Milord, there are 38 people in total inside the building. Two people are on the ground floor, while the rest are on the top floor. Daichi nodded his head in understanding. Bella was still looking at him expectantly, Daichi already knew what she wanted so he placed his head on top of Bella's head, and then he started to pet her.

Daichi could have sworn that he could see a fluffy tail swishing behind Bella's back. "Good girl" Daichi praised the insane woman since he already knew what Bella wanted. Then he turned toward Yuriko and Saeko. "Saeko, you stay here with Bella and all of them to keep an eye on all the trucks. Takagi-san, you will be coming with me" Daichi said as he glanced around. Since Daichi was speaking in Japanese, he decided to repeat his order in English.

"Sure man, but what is this place?" Anthony questioned curiously, he didn't have any problems waiting outside since there were no Zombies in sight.

"This is a shopping complex, the second team of our group is already here securing the food. Don't worry, we won't be staying here for long" Daichi explained and Anthony was surprised that Daichi had a second group. Once again, Anthony realized that he made the right decision to join Daichi's group.

Then Daichi finally turned towards Yuriko. "Let's go inside" Daichi said while staring at Yuriko, who was still looking kind of pale. Yuriko gave him a curt nod before she started to follow him. Yuriko walked up to him as she was extremely worried about her daughter, so she wanted to make a few things clear with him. When they have finally gotten quite a bit far from the rest of the group, Yuriko decided to speak up.

"Did she really sacrifice virgins to gain abilities?" Yuriko asked in a skeptical tone. In truth, she simply didn't want to believe that someone could do something like that.

"Yes, Bella has never lied to me, and she doesn't have any reason to lie now" Daichi answered as he glanced at Yuriko from the corner of his eyes. "You don't need to worry, I have forbidden her from sacrificing virgins anymore. She will never go against my order" Daichi added as he could understand why Yuriko seemed to be worried.

Yuriko didn't know if she should feel relieved that her daughter wasn't going to be sacrificed by Bella or if she should be angry at Daichi for his nonchalance regarding the whole matter. For now, she decided to settle with feeling relieved. She knew that she could rage and rant, but that wasn't going to gain her anything. If she ended up annoying Bella then the insane woman might end up killing her instead.

"…Thank you" Yuriko muttered weakly. Daichi simply gave her a nod. The two of them finally arrived at the back entrance, they could already see several dead Zombies littered around the back entrance. Some of the bodies were badly charred while some of them had a hole at the center of their heads. The charred corpses were a sign that his mother has passed through here.

Daichi glanced toward Yuriko and with a yank, he opened the door… As soon as the door was opened, both Daichi and Yuriko were assaulted by the smell of burning corpses. Both of them immediately covered their noses… "Wow! I think my mom kind of went overboard" Daichi groaned and Yuriko nodded her head in agreement. The two of them entered the shopping complex, and they were immediately greeted by the staircase. Bella has said that two people were on the ground floor, so Daichi decided to check on the ground floor before moving up.

Daichi knew that his mom wasn't a team player, so the chances of his mom mingling with the others survivors were kind of low. Daichi and Yuriko made their way through the ground floor, looking for the two people who were supposed to be on the ground floor according to Bella. The ground floor was littered with burned Zombie corpses along with a lot of ash.

"Yozora-senpai, you are finally here!!" All of a sudden, Kohta called out to Daichi from inside a food store. Daichi grinned and made his way toward Kohta.

"Yes, my mom had made quite a bit of mess" Daichi grinned as he gestured toward the surroundings and Kohta started to chuckle nervously while rubbing the back of his head. "Where is my mom?" Daichi asked and Kohta pointed towards another on the same lane. "Where are Aoba-san and Tsukomo-san?" Daichi questioned and Kohta immediately lost his smile as he lowered his head.

Yuriko's breath hitched when she saw how the boy's expressions changed. 'No… No… please, no… What am I going to tell Yui and Emiko?' Yuriko started to panic. She wondered if Kemono had killed the two of them or not, but she shook her head. She should not assume anything out of the blue. Meanwhile, Kohta clutched his gun tightly as he started to uncomfortably shuffle on his feet.

Daichi immediately knew that something was wrong, he also started to if the two of them ended up annoying his mom and she killed them. 'Yes, that is quite plausible' Daichi mused inside his mind, if that was the case, then he needed to hide the fact from the rest of his group. The death of Aoba and Tsukomo wasn't a big loss, in fact, Daichi would be happy if they really ended up kicking the bucket.

"Kohta, what happened?" Daichi asked, looking concerned, but it was all an act. Daichi placed his hand on Kohta's shoulder to give him some support. What Daichi did not know was that Kohta was also acting.

"I don't know" Kohta said while shaking his head. He still had his head lowered because he wanted to make his acting realistic according to his timid personality.

"What do you mean you don't know?" Daichi softly asked, he was kind of confused as he had no idea what Kohta meant by 'I don't know'. Yuriko also stepped forward as could no longer hold back her uneasiness.

"Hirano-san, what happened, please tell us" Yuriko pleaded with a desperate look on her face. Kohta flinched, he felt really bad for Yuriko, but he completely agreed with Kemono. The two of them needed to go for the stability of their group and for even a single moment, Kohta didn't regret his choice.

"That is it!! We don't know what happened to them, from we I meant myself and Yozora-san!!" Kohta frantically shook his head and he finally looked up. Kohta took a deep breath to calm himself. "After entering the shopping complex through the back entrance, Yozora-san suggested that we clear the ground floor, after all, most of the food stores are on the ground floor" Kohta started to explain.

"Aoba-san and Tsukomo-san disregarded Yozora-san's order, and they decided to look for survivors on the upper floors. The two of them left on their own and we don't know what happened to them… They are yet to return" Kohta shrugged with a saddened look on his face and after hearing Kohta's explanation, Daichi finally understood what happened.

Now, Daichi was kind of sure that his mom has killed the two of them, the two of them had dared to disregard her order, which was not something you would want to do if you want to live. Though Daichi was quite surprised that Kohta was also in on the plan with his mom. Daichi knew Kohta was a nice guy, but his respect for Kohta increased several folds. He was ready to do what was necessary to do for the betterment of the group.

Meanwhile, Yuriko sniffed with a pained look on her face. They went to look for more survivors and never returned. She wasn't surprised that the two of them decided to go on their own to look for more survivors, that was just like the two of them. Yuriko knew that there was a chance that they were still alive because nobody saw them die, but she also knew that it was only a fool's hope…

Now, she had an unenviable task of informing Yui and Emiko about Aoba and Tsukomo…
