(James is seven and writing in his diary.)

03/24/1672 My name is James I'm seven years old this is my first diary entry, and some dirty pirates came to town. I swear I see one of them walking with this weird looking chest with a weird lock on it and he had four men guarding him. I can't see why such a tiny chest would be so valuable. I have to go my mom's calling for me to meet someone.

I walk downstairs and see a tall man standing there he looked at me and smiled.

"Hello there, James!"

"Who are you?" I asked. The man laughed a little.

"My name is Johan I'm your uncle." Johan says

"Um, my uncle isn't a dirty pirate."

"JAMES!" Mommy yelled, I don't get why he's a disgusting pirate.

"It's fine. I get it the kid doesn't want to be associated with me since pirating is 'the worst thing a man can do'." Johan said

"Yeah, the marines told me." I said and then I puff up my chest to make me seem bigger. "And I'm going to be a Captain and command a whole entire ship." And then I swing my arms out and say "I'm going to command a ship this big!" Johan laughed. "It's not funny you stupid pirate!"

I saw my mom's hand swing and I felt the smack on my face and mom is yelling "JAMES GO TO YOUR ROOM AND DO NOT TALK LIKE THAT!" I ran to my room crying holding my hand to my throbbing face.

"That stupid pirate, ruining everything." I said in my room. *CRACK* *BOOM*

"HOLY!" I heard Johan yell then he heard the door open and close. I look out my window and see Johan running toward his ship and he also pulled out a pistol then like 15 marines jump out from behind the corners. I gasp as I see Johan blow them all away with a sweep of fire that comes out of his left hand. And he keeps running.

'What did he just do?' I think once Johan runs around a corner I open my window and jump out to run after Johan. Not to watch him because I'm amazed at his powers definitely not. Just to bring him and his whole crew in to the captain of my village Captain Ross. Captain Ross came to town when I was two or so my mom told me and he supposedly did great things for this town for example when I was three he held off a pirate raid. All of this I don't remember obviously but my mom told me and I believe her.

I run around the corner I saw Johan run around a little bit ago. I run around the corner and immediately go back around the corner. Captain Ross and his special army are standing in Johan's way.

"Ross you know what I can do, tell your men to stand down and let me pass." I hear Johan say. Wait that means that Johan knows Ross somehow.

"If you think for a second I'm going to let you pass. You'd be a fool to even think that." Captain Ross says.

"I know you care about this village-" Johan was saying before he gets interrupted by Captain Ross

"HA you really think I care about this dirty village? I'm only here so I can fight you again." Wait Captain Ross was lying to us this whole time? He really doesn't care about us?

"You just made a big mistake." Why did Johan say that he's a pirate they don't care about anything but loot they steal. Although Captain Ross told me that so it could have been another lie.

"My nephew lives in this village and it's his seventh birthday. I just came to see him then leave you didn't have fire your cannons and guns at my men." Johan knows when my birthday is? Maybe I was wrong about him to.

"I don't care about that, you are a pirate and it's my job to stop you." Captain Ross said

"YOU WERE ONCE A PIRATE!" Johan yelled. I looked around the corner in disbelief and see Johan's hands fully engulfed in orange flames.

"You know you can't win so you use a devil fruit power, THAT WAS MINE!" Ross yelled.

"Let me take you back in time. I heard the rumors when we had our final raid together in that cave that we acquired the Mera Mera fruit and I heard you talking about it. And knowing you, you wouldn't use it for good you would use it to gain power of the ship and make people fear you." Johan said.

"You're right that is what I would use it for but now I don't need that fruit I have my men here" I'm still looking when Ross swings his arm as a gesture to his men with guns. "Who will do anything I saw when I say it. Which brings me to my next point." I get behind the corner of the wall knowing this isn't going to end well. "Men, OPEN FIRE!"

I hear the loud cracking as 50 muskets fire at once. I look again and see Johan with a wall of blazing fire in front of him. My eyes go wide as I feel the heat even from 25 some feet away. Johan lowers his hand then snaps. The wall of fire goes in the direction of Ross and his men. All I can hear are the screams of pain and terror as the wall of flame passes over them. Nothing but ash and bones was left of Ross and his men.

"James you shouldn't be here, it's too dangerous."

"How did you know I was here?" I asked really confused.

"You pant like a dog." Johan said he turned around smiling.

"How can you smile!? you just killed like 50 people."

"I can smile because those were bad guys and now the earth is rid of them."

"Was he really a pirate?" I ask

"Yes. And so are you."
