Grant sat dazed reading through the entirety of the prompt. He had been concerned for a fraction of a moment when he first opened the menu because hew as afraid that by some cruel twist of fate he wouldn't have any Unique Paths to choose from but that concern disappeared when he saw the sheer size of the notification that appeared.

Their appeared to be a total of 25 normal paths. He wasn't sure if that was the entirety of the choices, but with his stats he assumed that he had met the requirements for all of them.

What surprised him was the sheer amount of Unique Paths. There were hundreds of them. It appeared that he had his pick of the litter for his future.

Grant sat there for a few hours just scrolling through the entirety of the list reading the names of them all.

Their were every possible specialized variation of Mages, Warriors, Healers, etc. The possibilities seemed endless.

Since The Path didn't provide any information beyond the name of the Path, Grant decided to see if Sherlock could provide any information.

[Sherlock, help me out here. "Guide" me to the right choice.]

{One of the few limitations placed on me upon my creation was my inability to give you concise directions to my owner on which Path they should choose.

I am allowed to present you with basic information for each class but that is all. As for the skills and other bonuses that each Path provides, you will have to discover on your own.}

[Ah yes, the ever helpful Guide. Fine then.

Tell me about Nature's Druid, Bladeslinger, Rune Priest, and the final one on the list, The Unbound. The last one sounds especially intriguing.]

{As you wish.

Nature's Druid have the unique ability to change into various animal forms, and are accompanied on adventures by an animal companion. They have a unique affinity with nature. They are considered to be rather neutral and do not fall to the side of good or evil.

Bladeslinger's are masters of all things bladed. They have the unique ability to wield any weapon that is classified as a bladed weapon with extreme efficiency and skill. They too are considered to be rather neutral and not fall to the side of good or evil by nature.

Rune Priests seek to unlock the secrets of the runes of divine power. Supreme beings left behind powerful runes imbued with unimaginable power and it is the rune priests who wield that power. They are aligned with good and abhor evil.

The Unbound is... I apologize, there is no record of that Path anywhere in my database. It is likely a one of a kind Path and has never been traversed before.

If I may proffer a piece of advice. You need to spend time thinking on your choice and be firm in your decision.

When The Path says that you are bound by your choice it does not only relate to your skills and such. You are bound by the very fabric of what it means to walk said Path.

For example: if you choose a Path that is aligned with good and abhors evil such as the Rune Priest then your fundamental nature will be altered to adhere to that. Unless you are somehow corrupted by a stronger individual of the opposite alignment, you will always be committed to doing what you determine to be the righteous choice in situations. That does not mean you are devoid of free will, you are merely influenced to a strong degree.}

After hearing the end of Sherlock's little speech, without a second thought Grant discarded all thoughts of choosing any path that was naturally aligned to either good or evil.

He neither desired nor could accept anyone or anything forcefully altering his state of mind to such a degree. Although he would retain free will, was it really free will if you were already influenced to even a small degree?

Grant felt bad for the people who wouldn't know any better when they chose their Path, because they would end up being influenced without even knowing that it was happening.

With that in mind, Grant focused on The Unbound. Not only could he infer that the Path was not restrained to a particular skill set based on the name, it was highly unlikely that it would be aligned with either good or evil. And lastly, if Sherlock had no record of it, that meant that it was most likely unique to him and tailored specifically for him.

After staring into the starry sky for another hour or so, Grant finally made his choice. He focused and then softly spoke the words,

"The Unbound"

The moment the words left Grant's mouth, the Universe froze. Life and Time seemed to stop just to experience the emergence of this new and unique Path for a mere moment.

Grant sat there quietly, in the midst of serene silence, with power gushing into his body. He could feel every fiber of his being bathed in the mana of the world. The moment he chose his path he could sense its presence.

After a moment, a light, that shined brighter than the sun on a clear day, exploded from Grant's body and illuminated the night sky.

As the light receded, the universe once again came back to life. Sounds returned to the surroundings and the stars became visible yet again in the dark night sky.

Grant just sat there dazed reading through everything. It seemed to him like he had made the right choice. Just the sheer versatility that was provided by the Path was more than enough to get him excited for the future.

While Grant was lost in his own thoughts, Robin and Richard came to check on him. They had felt the surge of energy in the area but weren't exactly sure what it's origins were so they came to check on Grant and make sure that he was okay.

Seeing the concern that the two afforded him he felt warm inside. Who didn't want someone to be concerned for them and wade into the unknown to make sure they were okay? It had only been a few days since Grant had met the two and he already treated them like family.

Since they had proven to be trustworthy people, Grant decided that he should sit down with them tonight and share as much information about The Path as he could. He wasn't sure how long he would be gone for and he didn't want to waste the opportunity to help them out the best he could.

When Grant told them about his Path, they both just stared at him with wide eyes and a stunned look on their face. They had obviously learned by now about what it meant to step onto a Path but they hadn't expected that Grant would achieve that within a week of The Path's emergence.

It was simply stunning.

While Grant and the kids were laughing, talking, and enjoying their time together, Sherlock was still reeling from what he had just witnessed, unlike Grant, he knew the significance that a path like The Unbound played.

{What the hell is with his Path? Never in the entirety of my existence have I seen anything even remotely similar to this. Unbound? Is he the one that my creator has been waiting for?}
