Nighttime Massacre (Part 2)

Hearing the voice, Grant figured that it was probably a young girl which meant that it was probably Leonard's sister.

And sure enough, Grant noticed that when Leonard heard the voice, his face seemed to morph into one of both fear and anger.

Yelling, "Morgan!!!" Leonard took off running in the direction that he had originally come from.

Grant could have taken the opportunity to escape during the chaos, but his curiosity and whatever was left of his sense of righteousness got the better of him and he followed after Leonard a few moments later.

Grant could hear Leonard yelling things such as, "Let my sister go!" and "What do you want with her!?"

Grant had purposefully reigned in his strength and moved at the pace of a normal human to avoid any suspicions so it he arrived a few moments after Leonard.

When he finally arrived at the scene of the commotion, Grant saw a group of 5 men aiming their weapons at Leonard and a few other random people that had appeared on scene. The men had an assortment of different rifles and pistols both in their hands and strapped at their waist.

The random people looked terrified but they also seemed to have a subtle hint of defiance in their eyes that suggested they wanted to do something to prevent whatever was about to happen. However, they didn't seem to have the resolve to make a move because they were all standing firmly rooted to the spots where they were standing.

In the hands of one of the men was a little girl that was probably 7 or 8 years old. She had blonde hair, green eyes, and just as skinny as Leonard. Grant figured that Leonard had probably given his sister a larger portion of whatever food he was able to scavenge since she looked healthier than Leonard did even though she was so skinny.

She was crying and begging for Leonard to save her. She looked absolutely terrified and was trying her best to break free from the man's grasp and get back to Leonard. No matter how hard she tried though she couldn't shake off his grip and the strength of the grip looked like it was starting to cause a mark on her arm.

Leonard had his hands balled into fists and looked like he was about to attack the men but he was being held back by an older man who looked to be in his fifties or sixties.

"Leonard, stop this! If you do something stupid these men will kill you without a second thought!"

"Listen to the old man kid. You're too young to die so be a good little boy and stay there quietly."

"Screw you! I won't let you take my little sister away! I promised my mom that I would protect her!"

The armed men just laughed in the face of Leonard's statement, as if it was some kind of joke.

"Shut up! Don't laugh at me! Give me my sister back!"

"Not happening kid. We're going to take her with us. One of Andrew's friends has a thing for little kids and told us to bring Morgan here with us. So you're out of luck, just be glad we don't kill you."

Grant had already guessed the atrocities that were being committed in this camp, but it was an entirely different thing hearing someone admit it.

It was taking everything in his power to restrain himself from killing the armed men since they were willingly contributing to these atrocities.

"Zach, just kill them so we can get back and hand this girl over. I want to have a go at the lady Andrew threw away this morning... she was quite the hottie, if you look past the cuts and bruises she had of course."

"You're right.. this is a waste of time. Andrew said we could kill anyone who showed any resistance to our orders."

"Will you two hurry up? It's getting cold out here man... I want to get back to the hospital and get inside. Plus it smells horrendous out here. These people are so dirty and disgusting."

Hearing what the men were saying to each other, the old man stepped up in front of Leonard, "I beg you not to kill the kid. I will make sure that he doesn't cause a disturbance."

"Get out of the way old man or you will die with the kid."

While keeping Leonard behind him, the old man got down on his knees and started to beg for Leonard's life, but it didn't seem to matter because the man who was leading the group of armed men, apparently named Zach, walked closer with his gun raised and pointing directly at the old man's head.

Leonard began to freak out and hit the back of the old man while yelling at him, "Grandpa Tom, get out of the way! Don't do this!"

No matter how much he tried to get away though, Tom never stopped holding him against his back.

Surprisingly though, once Zach was only a step away from Tom, the old man suddenly let go of Leonard and dove at Zach with his arms open in an attempt to tackle the man. While he was tackling Zach, he yelled back at Leonard, "Run kid! Get away from here!"

All hell broke loose at that point. All of the men started yelling at Zach to get out of the way so they could shoot the old man while also threatening the surrounding people that if they moved, they would be shot too.

Leonard looked like he was torn between running away and trying to rescue his sister, but with so many guns pointed in his direction, he couldn't force himself to move. Luckily, Morgan seemed to be more concerned with getting back to her brother, than the dangers to her life, because the moment the man let go of her arm to raise his gun, she ran back to her brother. Leonard braced his sister and immediately turned to run away.

However, before Leonard and Morgan could make their break, a gunshot rang out and a man standing just behind the kids, collapsed and landed on the ground right next to them with a bullet hole in his head.

The kids screamed in terror when they saw the man laying there with a hole in his head and his eyes opened wide in disbelief. It looked like the man was staring right through their souls.

During the chaos, Zach had wrestled free from Tom and scrambled back to his feet. Before he could threaten the old man though, he realized that everyone was looking at something behind him with terror in their eyes.

At first he thought it was because of the men he had brought with him and they were afraid they were going to be shot, but he realized that he couldn't hear the sound of anyone behind him.

After slowly turning around, Zach's vision was brought to the ground because something was reflecting light into his eyes. It turned out that the light was reflecting off pools of blood that were forming next to the bodies of his companions. While looking at their bodies, he realized that their throats looked like they had been ripped out by someone's hands.

Zach's face slowly turned white as a ghost because he hadn't even hurt a single sound of protest from behind him. Which meant that whatever or whoever killed them, did it so fast they weren't able to react.

Since Zach didn't see anyone other than the bodies of his companions, he turned back towards the onlookers, intending to ask them what had happened to them.

However, when he turned back around, Grant was standing less than a foot away from him. Grant had blood trickling down the side of his face which made Zach pee his pants without his knowledge. Zach couldn't stop himself from glancing down at Grant's hands and sure enough, blood was slowly falling from the tips of his fingers on his right hand.

"Who the fu.." was all Zach managed to get out before Grant's hand clasped onto his throat.

Grant didn't hesitate to squeeze and pull with all his strength. Ripping Zach's throat from his neck.

Without the support of Grant holding onto his neck, Zach fell to the ground with a pool of blood forming around his body.

Everyone just looked at Grant like they were looking at a mix of a monster and a hero. He had saved them in the end, but it was too brutal to watch.

Grant just stood there taking one deep breathe after another. He had wanted to restrain himself but as he watched everything unfold, he ultimately couldn't stop himself from taking action. He knew that he had fucked up and this would make taking over the camp more difficult.

It wouldn't take long for the rest of the guards to come to the area due to the sound of the gunshot so he had to act fast.

"All of you get away from here right now. If you're seen here, they will likely shoot you without question.

I will stay here and take responsibility."
