Operation: Clear all Zombies!

Thomas stood in front of the locked door. It's the thing that separated him from zombies in the past three days. Now he is going to open it to cleanse the school premises with his newfound power.

The five soldiers prepared their gear before going in, and after it, they gave Thomas a hand signal, indicating the mission is a go.

Thomas donned black balaclavas and a helmet. He glanced over his shoulder and raised a thumb.

Faint howls, shrieks, and bickers can be heard beyond the door. He reached for the doorknob with his left hand while the other remained on his M4 Carbine aimed at the door.

Then...

He twisted the doorknob and the metal door creaked open.

Bam!

A zombie rushed in from the darkness and knocked him backward onto the floor. Thomas fell on his back and the zombie pounced onto him.

The zombie tried to bite Thomas at his shoulder but his black shoulder pad foiled its attempt. He drew his hand from his M4 and clubbed his attacker with the buttstock. The zombie fell on the floor, groaning.

The soldiers were dumbfounded at the surprise pounce of the zombie but their attention was swiftly taken by zombies that are coming towards them.

"OPEN FIRE GODDAMIT!" Thomas yelled !!!

The zombies were coming to life as they reached the stairwell. They are coming and coming.

"Take cover!" One of the soldiers shouted. They immediately fired back at the zombies that are coming in, even if they are not clear on their targets yet.

The other soldiers huddled at the stairwell and continued shooting. The sound of gunfire reverberated through the school, shaking the building and its glass pane.

Thomas was busy fighting off his zombie when the zombies that are near the stairwell noticed the students and turned to them.

"Commander! There's a lot of them!" A soldier yelled.

"Shoot them!" Thomas yelled back.

Shooting ensued, Thomas then used the chance to grab his M4 and thrust the butt of it at the zombie. Then he pulled the trigger, spraying bullets into its skull. His firearm quieted down as he ran out of ammo. But then, more zombies are coming in.

"FUCKING SHOOT THEM!" Thomas yelled as he fumbled for a pistol from his back.

Bullets soon littered the room. It bounced off the walls and made its way to the zombies. It was loud, louder than the sound of Thomas' M4. The bullet holes in the walls are proof of that.

The zombies were staggering in front of them, some were already torn to pieces. The students were firing at the zombies like there are no tomorrow. The zombies' bodies are piling up and the floor is already covered with its flesh and blood.

But the zombies are far from gone. They just keep on coming.

"There's no end to them!" a soldier bellowed.

"SHOOT THEIR FUCKING HEADS!" Thomas yelled back.

Thomas took out a second magazine for his M4 Carbine. It was an extended magazine, meant to hold more bullets. With a fresh set of bullets, he reloaded his firearm and resumed shooting.

Pow! Pow! Pow! Pow!

Thomas was shooting at the zombies, headshots. None missed its mark. Heck, they were dead on.

As seen, he was a natural at shooting. Thanks to the system's power he was able to keep up with their overwhelming numbers.

"Stairwell secure sir!" Daniel reported as he swept his M4 Carbine around the stairwell.

"Good, we're going down the third floor." Thomas relayed a new order. "I didn't expect their numbers to be that many."

"Yes sir!" Soldiers replied and they followed Thomas.

As they ran down the stairs, they could hear the heavy footstep echoing in the stairwell.

They reached the third floor and Thomas had Erza check the area.

The hallway was a mess, dried blood on the wall, rotting carcasses littered in sight. Tattered pieces of clothes and their accessories were scattered on the floor, not to mention blood. It reeks of rot, of death.

"The floor is clear. No signs of zombies." Erza reported.

"Alright, let's go through here," Thomas ordered.

They continued walking down the hallway until they reached a door.

"What's the plan here sir?"

The rules of engagement just changed the moment they stepped inside the school building. His troops demanded an answer. Would they really exterminate all the zombies inside the school premises or just shoot down those coming at them.

"The mission is clear, we find a stronghold. This school is a suitable place for a stronghold. The rule of engagement is that we eliminate zombies as many as possible."

"Yes, sir!"

"Permission to speak sir." Jacob raised his hand.

"What is it?"

"If we're going to clear this school of zombies I suggest that we summon new troops. Six of us wouldn't be able to accomplish the task."

Thomas nodded in satisfaction, Jacob has a point. This is not some sort of special mission where they are here for specific reasons, they are here to exterminate all zombies.

Though he has at least 150 souls, adding those they'd just killed in the stairwell, he can't summon all of them. The reason being is it'll be expensive to maintain.

"Okay, I'll summon ten soldiers. I hope it's enough."

"Thank you, sir!"

Thomas opened his system menu and went to Summon Forces tab.

[Notice: Do you want to summon 10 infantry for 10 souls?]

"Yes."

As he confirmed that, a magic circle appeared on the ground and ten soldiers protruded out from it. They performed a salute to Thomas.

"Good, now that we are this many, I'd like to reorganize our forces. I and this original five will be the Alpha Forces, the another five will be Bravo, and the remaining will be Charlie. Any questions?"

"I have sir!"

"What is it?"

"What's the mission?"

"We are going to clear this floor of zombies. Once we do, we move to second, to the first, and to the school grounds. Is that clear?"

"Yes sir!"

"Oh, before I forgot. Use this."

Thomas bought a suppressor and flashlight from the Shop Tab for no cost. Looks like simple weapon accessories are free to use.

They fitted the suppressor at the muzzle and the flashlight below it. Since the zombies are attracted to noise, it's best they keep their element of surprise. Thanks to the heavy rain that is still going on, the zombie's senses are confused. And since the night is coming and the school has no power, they needed a source of light.

"Okay we split up, Alpha and Bravo will take the west wing, Charlie in the east wing. Exterminate the zombies in every classroom located on this floor."

"Yes sir!"

"Okay, let's move."

...

Thomas and his Alpha and Bravo Forces marched through the west wing, which is a long hallway. The hall was coated with dust, some of the windows are broken. He looked out at the rain through the broken windows and then, he turned back. A door was just ahead.

"Erza, go check the door."

Erza responded and reached for the doorknob, then performed a silent entry. He pushed the door as open as quietly as possible. Once he was inside the room, he opened the door wide open.

"Clear!"

"Okay, we move to the next room."

They continued checking one room after another. Zombies were either killed by the Alpha or Bravo Forces or by Thomas.

They cleared every room in the West Wing and moved to the East Wing.

They repeated the same thing; doors to rooms, swinging them and entering them, clearing them of zombies. But as they were still doing that, the silence was broken by gunshots.

"Third floor is clear, sir!" Charlie reported.

"Keep your comms, we're going down the second floor."

Thomas reminded as they walked down the stairs towards the second floor. The same rules of engagement are applied. Alpha and Bravo to the west wing and Charlie to the east wing.

This time, there are zombies in the hallway.

"Fire!"

Guns were fired, the zombies didn't last a second, they didn't even notice it thanks to the suppressor.

"Engage."

They went inside the classrooms and cleared them of zombies. After they cleared all the rooms, they moved to the first floor.

Thomas took a deep breath, enjoying the moment. They are almost done.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side, Charlie team entered the last room, which seems to be a music room. There are five zombies growling.

"Fire." The squad leader of Charlie ordered his comrade.

They opened fire. The zombies were killed and fell to the ground.

It's getting dark, they opened their flashlight and scoured the music room.

One soldier of the Charlie Team found something.

"Sir, there's a door here."

"Alpha and Bravo team standby, we found something."

"What is it, Charlie?" Thomas asked, his voice coming from the earpiece.

"There is a small room in the music room..." The squad leader tried to open the door. "But it's locked."

"Then open it. Leave no stone unturned."

The squad leader nodded in response and used his M4 Carbine's butt and smashed the doorknob.

It broke into pieces. He then kicked the door wide open. Suddenly, there was a shriek.

"Get away from me! Get away from me!"

It was a voice of a woman, throwing everything her hands can grab onto the soldier.

The Charlie squad leader aimed his flashlight and saw a young woman, shaking in fear.

"Sir, there's a survivor in here. She is a student."

The woman noticed their presence and ran towards them. She jumped and hugged the squad leader.

"Thank you, thank you..." She repeated, the squad leader was taken aback. From the voice alone, he can tell how big it is for her to be rescued.

"Easy, easy now. We're here to help."

He tried to ease the woman. She noticed the soldier that came with the squad leader.

"Thank you, thank you so much, mister." She said to the soldier as she wiped off her tears.

"Don't worry, ma'am. We will get you out of here." The soldier replied.

"Thank you..."

She was still shaking but she seems to be in peace thanks to the soldier's words.

"Charlie team, hold your position, we're on the move," said Thomas.

Upon arriving at the music room, Thomas surveyed the room. His attention was drawn to the corner where a beautiful young woman sat, her silver hair pulled pack into a ponytail. Her deep blue eyes glistened in the light of the flashlight. A delicate nose, high cheekbones and rose-colored lips completed her stunning features. Thomas couldn't believe his eyes. Yes she was stunning but he was not charmed. After all, he knew this woman, she is his classmate.

"Felicia?"

Felicia Stepanovna Kitagawa. She is his classmate, a half-Japanese half-Russian girl who lives in Japan.

On the other hand, Thomas Harrier is an American exchange student.

Felicia heard a familiar voice. "Tho-Thomas~kun?"

Thomas removed his helmet and balaclava, showing his face.

Felicia's eyes widened. "Thomas?!" She ran towards him and hugged him. "I'm so glad to see you!"

Thomas grabbed her and returned a warm hug. He's so glad that she's still alive.
